Whatever the case, I was sitting beside my self-created pool, thinking about the spacecraft, and making a rough sketch, when I heard footsteps.
"Hi, Leo. I called you for discussion earlier." I said without looking.
I was expecting an extra-long lecture on how punctual I was and why I shouldn't be.
"He's still with Ref." Said Christine's voice.
She sat beside be, entering her legs into the water like me, and resting her head on my shoulder.
"You know," I started, "I am going to create an extra-large spaceship tomorrow. I'll be back in about 13 months."
"You're not joking?" She asked.
"No," I confessed.
She sighed. "You know, I was just thinking about how much change there is in me since you came here."
"You're reading my mind," I said.
"You know, mind-reading is not my field. It's more like Cleander's." She removed her head from my shoulder and faced me. I looked at her as well.
Unbelievably, she was wearing casual clothes. She was wearing ripped jeans and a jacket, and probably for the first time in her life she was weaponless.
Okay, probably not. A golden ring gleamed in her finger, which I was pretty sure was the cosmic lightning.
"You look much better in casual clothes."
"Is that a compliment to my casual clothes or an insult to my armour?"
"Both?"
She punched me in my gut.
"Oww."
"Why did you said I am reading your mind?"
"Because I was thinking about how much I have changed since I came here."
"You know, I also wanted to tell you something... important."
"What?"
"Do you remember the project night hound?"
I gasped. "How do you... Not even father..."
"When you gave your father the watches, you forgot one thing. The lightning was a kind of your securest database."
"But I gave it because I knew no one can crack it! I wanted to send it away from me! The biggest genius of Transoid even wouldn't have been able to crack it!"
"I won't say I am intelligent than you because I am not. It took me 360 years to crack it. But my point is, it might be the key to our victory."
"I cannot complete it. Keeping so much powerful thing in one place, please. It's not possible. It's..It's way too dangerous."
"It depends upon you how you spell impossible."
I looked at her smiling face, her smooth brown hair dangling loosely over her shoulder and her warm brown eyes looking at me expectantly.
I sighed. "I'll try. Don't let anyone touch the lightning. Promise me."
She nodded. "I promise."
We sat in silence for a little time, looking at the automated cleaning of the fallen tower.
I looked at Christine, who was about to keep her head on my shoulder again. Our foreheads came in contact for a moment, and I don't know how, I felt such a jolt that I yanked my head off, which was overheated for a second like I was having a fever. But when I kept my hand there for a second, the temperature drained off completely. I looked at Christine. Her head was red, and her temperature was draining slowly.
"What was that?" I asked.
"We call it the connection of Transoid. The form of communication which is only possible two Transoidians."
"Apollo!" Leo called from somewhere behind me. "Get up! It's morning!"
"Unbelievable," I said, looking at Christine. "It was evening!"
She winked. "Mysteries of Transoid never ends."
So, that's me, writing this and at the same time coding my superb special mini parcel carrier, so that this novel reaches the year 3030, just to tell that I am fine. I can only hope it reaches the correct place, so I will send off a lot of copies of this novel.
Well, so my spacecraft is finally half done. But now, a bigger part is left. A bigger responsibility as well. I can only hope that I live long enough to write the second edition. If it reaches the year 3030, then dear reader, please give this to Rex. And tell everyone we are not dead. Though I am badly mystified, about a lot of answers, and probably I won't be able to find any of them, and probably I won't be able to tell you guys about the last question. I can only hope for the good.
(I am winking.)
