Light wiped the counter and slumped against it with a tired sigh. He was exhausted. He had spent all day working with very few breaks, and now was the only time he was able to breathe and relax. Light looked at his watch and read the time, 9:30 pm. Only half an hour left in his shift, and he could close up and go home.

The coffee shop was currently empty, and Light was relieved that he didn't have to deal with any more customers today. Light finished cleaning up, and pulled out his phone and started aimlessly scrolling to pass the time. Eventually, Light got bored of his phone and figured no one else would come into the shop, so he made his way to the back room to put away his apron.

Just as Light was about to open the door to the back, he heard the front bell ring signaling someone came in.

Damn. I thought I was done for the day.

Light sighed and made his way back to the cash register.

There, he met a man with big gray eyes and dark black circles under them and extremely messy dark black hair. He had a button nose, and pale skin.

He's kinda cute... Light thought to himself.

He wore a loose fitting long sleeved white shirt, faded blue jeans, and old beaten tennis shoes. The man sucked on his thumb as he read the menu.

"Hi, what can I get you?" Light asked politely, putting on a charming smile.

"I'm still deciding." The man mumbled around his thumb not looking at Light.

"No problem, take your time." The man had been reading the menu for almost 5 minutes now, and he still hadn't told Light his order.

"What do you recommend?"

Light looked at the desserts the shop offered. There was everything from danishes, to french macaroons, to strawberry shortcake. They all looked delicious, but Light wasn't particularly fond of sweets.

"Personally, I don't really like sweets." Light started.

The man gave Light an offended look.

Did I say something wrong? Why is he looking at me like that?

"But, customers seem to really enjoy the strawberry shortcake. I can also make a great latte."

The man then nodded slowly and spoke. "Alright, I'll take your word for it then. I'll take a shortcake and a latte then."

"Great, that'll be $8.50."

The man pulled out his wallet and gave Light the money. He then went to sit at a table near the window and took out his laptop to work.

Light went to prepare the latte and looked up at the man sitting by the window. Light thought the man looked familiar, but he couldn't place his finger on where exactly he'd seen him before.  Light had spent so much time staring at the man by the window that he spilled some of the coffee he was making.

"Oh shit," Light muttered quietly, grabbing a cloth to wipe the mess he made.

The man looked up at Light. "Is everything alright?"

Light looked up. "Yeah! Everything's fine!" He said nervously.

Light cleaned up and finished making the latte, and grabbed the cake putting it on a plate. He made his way over to the table by the window and gave the man his order.

"Here's your order," Light carefully placed the cake and latte on the table.

The man looked up from his computer, and watched as Light gave him his food. "Would you like to sit with me?"
