Tennis Ball grew impatient as the clock in front of the library slowly ticked every second.

5:56 and twenty seconds

5:56 and twenty one seconds

5:56 and twenty two seconds

5:56 and twenty three seconds

Tennis Ball wanted to bang his head on the wall, for he had heard this slow repetitive sound for the past 34 minutes and thirty seven seconds. 34 minutes and thirty eight seconds.

His mom dropped him off way to early in front of the school. In fact, this wasn't even the school, but the library. Fortunately, the library opened in about three minutes, and then he could call his mom to take him to actual school.

Tennis Ball heard a motor vehicle in the distance, and he turned away from the clock to see someone pulling up to the library. The car pulled into the employee spot and an object stepped out.

This object looked like some sort of Top Hat. They had a pitch black fleece like texture all around, and a red ribbon around the top and bottom part, with a little nice scarlet bow on the side.

The formal looking object whistled and locked up their car up, and strolled over to the entrance of the library. As he casually unlocked the door, he noticed Tennis Ball.

"Hey kid, you okay?" The object looked at Tennis Ball with concern, while still unlocking the door, "You look a bit sad, and today is a school day, shouldn't you be at school?"

"My mom dropped me off here instead of school. Can you let me in? I need to call her so she can pick me up!" Tennis Ball nervously glanced around while trying not to cry, for he worried about what was going to happen.

"Yeah kid, don't worry, this actually isn't the first time this has happened on my shift, unfortunately. You can read some books or play some computer games while you wait, alright?" The object finished unlocking the door, and flipped a light switch, turning most if not all of the lights on.

Tennis Ball opened his mouth in awe. The library was massive, two stories of pure literature. On the bottom floor, there was about twenty computers, with comfortable looking chairs. He walked around the library and sat down by a small chair by the stairwell.

"I-I've lived here all my life and I never knew that this library was so massive." Tennis Ball grabbed a few books from the science fiction section and sat back down on the chair, and started to read them, the first one titled, "Aliens from the Outer Planets."

Just after finishing the first page, he was in shock. This story was the best thing he had ever read, and he had read every single book in the school's library. Every. Single. One. He kept reading, and as he was on the eighty-third page, he heard a faint yelling.

As he looked up from the book, he realized the yelling was not, indeed faint, but Tennis Ball just tuned most things out when reading.

"Kid! What is your moms number?" The Top Hat looking object yelled over his desk, and he was prepared to enter the number into the phone on his desk.

"I... don't know. I thought everyone just knew everyone's number."

The librarian sighed and looked Tennis Ball straight in the eyes, "Does your mom have a library card here? Then her phone number will be in my database."

Tennis Ball thought for a moment, and awkwardly stuttered, "M-maybe? my mom are always busy, so I don't really know much about her."

"Well, what's her name?"
