The owner of the house led the other man into the kitchen and motioned him to sit down and make himself comfortable. He offered him a drink and something to eat, to which the man declined, saying that went against protocol.
"Feeding you goes against protocol?" He asked, a bit of disbelief dripping into his voice. "But you're going to be here for hours. Are you just going to starve yourself?"
"I'll pick something up after I'm done here."
"That's not until four o'clock tomorrow-
"I'm well aware. Now what was it you wanted to talk about, hmm?" The guy known as Yokozawa Takafumi asked sweetly, resting his chin against his hand and leaning in. "You wanted to talk with me a while ago, so I assume you had an idea about what we'd be chatting about."
"I'll start off with my name. I'm Kirishima Zen."
"Hello, Kirishima." Yokozawa mocked, acting as if he'd just met the man and they were exchanging friendly talk like business men, and in a way, they were. The only thing was they did business in two completely different ways. One was an actual business man and the other...did his own business.
The man stared unamused. This clearly wasn't go to work. Takafumi wasn't taking this conversation seriously, not that he could blame him 'cause from the looks of it- he'd never had a normal conversation with anyone. Perhaps this is all he knew. This is why he was wary of starting conversations. In his eyes, it might as well have been a trap.
Anyone who was nice was automatically up to something.
No one does anything nice without a price.
They both had this mindset. Two men from two very different worlds thought the exact same way.
"Ok, why don't we play a little game? I'll ask a question and then you ask one in return, got it?"
"Whatever you say."
"Stop it."
"Yes sir.~"
He ignored the comment, letting it slide for fear if he let it get to him, he'd grow annoyed with the man seated across from him who was just having fun, probably not used to being serious.
"What's something interesting about you."
"I do this type of stuff for money-
"I'm being serious here."
"So am I."
"Ok fair enough. Your turn."
"Hmm." The gray eyed man hummed, his delicate pink lips forming a thoughtful scowl. At first Kirishima thought the man was just being an asshole again, making it seem like he was going to ask an important question, only to ask something inappropriate or stupid, but contrary to that, the worker seemed to be thinking of a genuine question. "How old are you?"
"I'm twenty-eight. My birthday is June sixteenth."
Yokozawa hesitated for a bit, taking in the information. "O-oh, your birthday is coming up. Happy early birthday." He smiled brightly, and while it was a fake smile, the other appreciated it.
Not because the worker wished him a happy birthday, but because he'd actually talked without having to be forced too.
"When's your birthday?"
"Haha." The gray eyed man laughed nervously. "I kind of forgot. Let me check my phone real quick."
He pulled out his phone and checked the calendar, swiping through the months to see if he'd written it down. Luckily he had, his birthday landed on the day he had to pay his rent. He supposed that would be an easy way to remember.
Rent day = Birthday.
"My birthday is June eighteenth."
"You're birthday is super close as well. What do you plan on doing to celebrate it?"
"Work and pay my rent. What about you? Got any plans?"
Kirishima shook his head. "I'll probably work, but that's about it."
"Nice." The other nodded awkwardly, just sitting through the silence, hoping that the curly haired man would ask something else or suggest something to do in order to ride out the quietness that had been draped over them like a heavy blanket.
"How old are you?"
"Twenty-two."
This guy is so young! The elder man thought, staring at the man seated in front of him who was simply staring back, his eyes blinking boredly. How had he even got into this line of work?
"You look shocked. I take it you don't approve-
"I'm not judging you."
"I really don't mind if you do. It's natural. Probably one of those human instinct things, right? Like survival of the fittest or something like that."
The more Takafumi talked, the more intelligent and interesting he seemed. He had a weird sense of humor, but once you got him started, he seemed to take off. It made Kirishima wonder what he'd be like outside of his work hours.
"Let's go to the bedroom."
"We're not gonna pillow talk or cuddle are we?"
"Is that your worse nightmare?"
"Actually, yeah."
"Shut up and follow me."
