it was a cold day in denver, colorado.
Amelia got out of bed and put her hair into a messy ponytail. she walked into her kitchen and put a pot of water on the stove. letting it steep, she bounced a tea-bag in the pot.
it was the same morning routine.
everyday.
her apartment building was filled with kind people and sweet faces, yet her mind still raced. anxious thoughts taking up space, crowding her brain. her boring, cold apartment had nothing to offer. not a single feel of home. she had moved in three years prior, refusing to work on something she wasn't gonna spend all her time in. Amelia was an avid runner, she spent some of her free time running through town, taking new trails and new roads. finding new adventures. her life had no pizazz, no sparkle, she was simply ordinary... That is until she got a new neighbor.
Amelia and Alexander met in the hallway that morning for the first time.
he was different. unique. wild. pure fire. and he changed her life. from the day Alexander moved in, there was never a dull moment. that morning, he ran right into her- knocking her to the ground.
"i am so sorry!!!!" he frantically told the girl on he floor. "i forgot about other people! i've never lived in an apartment building before."
"it's fine." she answered while getting up. without another word, she walked away. Amelia was fine on her own, she didn't want to meet anyone new. he let her walk away.
later that night , Amelia got into bed. she got under the plain white comforter and stared at the ceiling. she couldn't help but wonder what her new neighbor was like. she brushed the sore spot on her arm, turned her lamp off, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
