I threw my head back, rubbing my eyes as my eyelids got heavier. I answered the last question on the paper, took a photo and sent it to Jade, "heres the homework thats due tomorrow"

"thanks" she replied as I rolled my eyes laughing "just trying to make sure you don't fail chem" I responded.

"thanks ily"

"ilyt" Turning of my phone, I dragged myself to bed. As I dragged myself to bed. When the clock stroke 6, my alarm went off. 1 hour of sleep, nice.

"Sapphire! Wake up!" Luna, my older sister shook me, causing me to flinch. I rolled over, swatting her hands away. "Ughhh, five more minutes," I groaned, wanting to stay in bed a little longer.

"You're going to be late!" she urged. "Okay, okay, I'm up. What time is it?" I asked, giving in and sitting up. Rubbing my eyes, I tried to adjust my them to the bright sunlight pouring in through my windows.

She held her phone to my face, showing me the time as my eyes widened. "Oh my god! Why didn't my alarm go off?" I panicked, jumping out of bed as Luna laughed.

"I have to give a new student a tour of the school today! How the hell am I going to get there on time?" It's only the second week of school and I'm already screwing up.

"Damn, talk about bad luck."

"Thanks," I said sarcastically, glaring at her as she laughed even harder. "Anyway, do you want any breakfast?" she asked.

"No, I don't have any time. Thanks anyway," I said, running to the bathroom and putting my hair into a low ponytail.

"Okay well, I gotta go. I'll see you when you come back," she added.

I shot her a smile as she walked out of my room. As soon as I finished washing my face and brushing my teeth I went digging through my closet to find a decent outfit to wear. I quickly changed into a loose white button up and a random tennis skirt I dug from the back of my closet that I haven't worn in a while. It's a lot smaller on me now but since I didn't have any time to look for something else I went with it.

After grabbing my backpack and flinging it over my shoulder I sprinted my way downstairs and went running out the door. When I pulled my bike out of the shed I noticed that the front wheel was flat. Dammit, dammit, dammit! I shoved my bike back into the shed and started running, my breath leaving a furl of white before the cold wind snatches it away.

As I turned the corner my phone started ringing. Panting, I answered. "Hey," Jade started. "Oh hi, what's up? Are you already at school?" I asked out of breath. "Shit, I'm not. I lost track of time," she said.

I rolled my eyes, laughing. Not that I'm surprised, I mean, It's typical of her to be late. I still don't know how she manages to be late 3 out of 5 school days. „Hah, you dumbass," I laughed, still running as fast as I could. "Thanks, anyway, gotta go, see you at school."

"See ya," I said before hanging up the phone. When I arrived the bell immediately rang so I bolted in. Damn, this day keeps getting worse and worse. I really hope that Sadie, the new student I was supposed to give the tour to this morning, doesn't tell the principal that I wasn't there this morning.

I opened the door and quietly slipped into my seat. Thankfully, the teacher didn't notice that I came in after the bell. Mrs. Evans was in the middle of passing out papers when the door flung open and Jade stepped in. Her hair was long, flowing down her back and over her shoulder like black water. She was wearing a white t-shirt but it was mostly covered by an oversized black and white plaid flannel, paired with some loose ripped jeans. Silver jewelry and chains were dripping from her neck, ears and wrists.

When the teacher looked up there was a disappointed look on her face. I expected Jade to start walking towards her seat but she just stood there looking at the teacher with a sly smile spread across her face. She was probably just waiting for the teacher to snap at her like she always does. For some weird reason she loves it when she gets on peoples' nerves. Does she have a degrading kink or something? I seriously want to know the answer.

"Jade! So, you decided to make it! Care to explain why you're late?" Mrs. Evans asked, putting the stack of papers down. "Oh right, sorry I'm late. I just didn't want to be here..." Jade smirked. I had to cover my mouth to stop myself from laughing.

"Don't talk back to me!" she spat. "You literally just asked me a question," she laughed, "and I answered truthfully... would you rather I lie to you?" she leaned onto the doorframe, crossing her arms.

Mrs. Evans sighed, annoyed. "Well, this is your third tardy this week and since you don't have a permission slip from a parent slash guardian you're going to have to go to the principal's office."

"Thank god, I was not looking forward to this class anyway."

"And you can take that attitude of yours with you!" she raised her voice.

"Adiós perras," she said, saluting as she walked out the door. The whole class started laughing so the teacher slammed her book on the table and that seemed to silence everyone.

"Anyway, let's get back to class," she said in an annoyed manner, rolling her eyes. I never understood why she didn't care about her grades. Jade would get straight A's if she just put in a little effort.

She's really smart, she just doesn't care enough. I mean, when we were kids she was pretty good in school and listened to her parents but when she was 13 her mom passed away she just kinda gave up. She would stop going to school for weeks at a time and she would always get into a lot of trouble. When her dad found out about it they got into a huge fight, and that ended up with them never speaking to each other again.

Ever since then it's like they both don't even know each other. She never talks about him, she didn't even tell me about the fight when it happened, I only found out because her brother told me. I still don't understand why she hates him so much. Sure, he was strict but so are a lot of parents. They used to be really close, her, her parents and her siblings. But after her mom passed they all just kinda fell apart.

After a while Jade walked in and sat down in the empty seat behind me as Mrs. Evans grabbed another pile of papers and started to hand them out. "Ok, everyone start working on those worksheets I just handed out. If you want you can work with a partner as long as everyone is quiet," Mrs. Evans explained.

I turned around to look at Jade and found her already looking at me. She pushed her chair up next to me and sat down. "So, what did I miss?" she whispered.

I opened my mouth to say something but she cut me off. "Actually, I don't even care. Anyway, wanna hang out after school? I don't have any plans."

"Yea sure, I don't have any plans either," I nodded, picking up my pencil to start working on the worksheet. Eventually lunch rolled around and I grabbed my lunch out of my locker. As I was walking to the Cafeteria I saw a student, their eyes searching around the halls and a sheet of paper, looking confused.

They had a light brown pixie that was curly and was slightly covering their eyes so they kept brushing them off of their face with fingers. Their olive skin complementing their golden eyes. Wait, that might be Sadie, the new student I was supposed to give the tour to this morning. I'll just ask, better safe than sorry. So I walked over and tapped on their shoulder.
