A raccoon's adventure

Chapter 2

A marble clinked as it hit another,almost dropping off the desk before a hand swooped up to catch it.
"Ranpo-san,shouldn't you be at a crime scene right now?" Kunikida sighed,rubbing his temple before returning to his work when he saw a pout and heard an unsatisfied huff from the detective.

A crackle of a bag of chips sounded through the agency as Ranpo opened the bag of snacks,munching on a chip,then proceeding to stuff his face full of the savoured food. The office bustled with noise in the meantime,Dazai teasing Atsushi over picking out a case that involved Akutagawa,Tanizaki and Naomi discussing some topic none of the agency members wanted to know,Kyouka and Kenji talking about work and Yosano at the corner looking at a document of a dead person found in a museum.

The raven hummed to himself as he kicked his legs back and forth,snacking once again as he enjoyed the company of his coworkers. A loud noise made the office's joyful noise screech to a halt,the door slammed open with a small boy practically flying into the office. "Mama!" The boy had yipped,opening his arms and launching himself onto the detective. Ranpo's heart almost stopped when he was suddenly attacked by the boy,being called mama and now the kid was hugging him,showing the utmost affection.

Poe stood at the door of the agency,his hands on his knees as he panted,looking as if he was chasing said boy.
"K-Karl-,will you stop running. You made me run merry go rounds through the city!" He panted,taking a deep breath before looking up to see the raccoon in Ranpo's arms,nuzzling him affectionately. "Poe-Kun,what is this?" The emerald eyed asked,trying to peel the boy off him as the rest of the agency watched in curiosity.

"Karl,get off Ranpo-Kun now."
"No! I wanna stay with mama!"
"Karl? Mama?"
The raven raised a brow as he observed the features of the boy that was clinging onto him,making an 'o' shape with his mouth when he noticed the tail that hung on his back and the ears that tingled with excitement as he buried his face into the older's coat.

"W-Wait,Karl,by 'mama' you meant Ranpo?" The writer wheezed as he pulled in another whirl of air before regaining enough air to breathe properly again while the candy lover watched in confusion. "Of course! You two are dating anyways. I don't understand how you didn't know it was her when it's so obvious!" Karl squeaked,tail bouncing from side to side.

"I'm a guy though?" Ranpo tilted his head to the side as he patted the small mop of hair that was on his shoulder. The raccoon made a surprised noise as he pushed his face to the other,foreheads touching as his eyes widened comically.
"Woah! So you weren't straight papa? No wonder the both of you don't have kids yet! Sorry,sorry,I didn't expect you to be a guy since I thought papa was straight,especially since you're always the one that screams in the bedroom-"
"OKAY,OKAY! That's enough! I don't have any work to do right now so why not all three of us go down to a cafe to discuss about what's happening?" the snack lover laughed it off,covering the raccoon's mouth after he made a comment he didn't want anyone working in the office to know.

Poe blushed furiously as he picked the animal off of his lover,apologising profusely before lightly scolding said animal for saying that out loud. Karl hissed and pouted,his tail fluffed up as he tried to scramble away to his 'mama'. Ranpo then threw extra cases he was too lazy to do onto Atsushi as he tugged onto the author's sleeve and dragged him to a cafe the both of them frequently visited,reminding him so much of how the raccoon dragged him to the agency.

Karl's tail wagged with excitement as he eyed the slice of cake before him,exclaiming that he never did eat a whole cake before,just a berry or a tiny bite of the sugary pastry as he nommed on it,his ears shaking with delight. "Sho,youwre twelling me an abiwity uswer turned Karl intwo a human?" Ranpo asked,his mouth full of cake as he tried to speak,looking like a hamster when it ate.

Poe chuckled before nodding,taking a bite out of his own slice of cake because he's the only one who was eating the sweet treat graciously. The detective let the raccoon beside him hop onto his lap,tucking his Chin under his head as he tried to steal a bite from his cake only to have his second owner shove his hand away.

"Um,Ranpo-san,is it okay if I continue calling you 'mama'? I've gotten reallllly used to it," he asked shyly,looking down as his tail swooshed in embarrassment. Taking another bite of his cake while thinking,the raven sighed before nodding reluctantly,patting his soft hair when Karl had yawned.
"Hmm,the sun is setting,Karl it's time to go home,you look tired-"
"Poe-Kun can we have a sleepover today? My apartment is under reservation right now and I have no where else to stay other than Fukuzawa-san's house. Please,please can we?"
The smaller begged,tightening his arms around the now asleep boy on his lap.

Without hesitation,the brunet agreed,ready to say what they were going to do all in one breath before his eyes landed onto his sleeping pet. He smiled softly as he got up,offering his arms for the Detective to jump into,giggling as he cuddled the sleeping raccoon while being carried by his lover back to the mansion. The stroll back to his home was peaceful and quiet.

The writer did his best to ignore all the amused and amazed stares from passerby's as they continued their walk,Ranpo almost lulling himself to sleep as he played with his 'son's' tail. The click the door of the mansion made woke him up fully,pulling in the boy closer to his chest as the taller sauntered into the room and reloaded the two people off of him.

Yawning ever so cutely,Ranpo planted himself onto the bed,cuddling Karl and going back into his slumber while Poe changed into a more simple choice of clothing and joined them,sandwiching his lover in between as both of the sleeping male's snores played like a lullaby in his mind to make him drift off to sleep.
