Every students can do anything they want but not the only one rule, to not cross boundaries.
Boundaries are meant for each group. You can play around in the space you have and once you cross the line, your life will depends on the leader of which boundary you may touch unless you want to compete and give up your part. No one knows what will happen to you, you may become the new member, the dog, their punching bag, or you won't exist anymore, forever.
Which is why you have to pick a group carefully if you are a freshmen in the day of hunt. They have their own group, yes, but they would've had the gang they fear right?
