Chapter 3: KFC doesnt solve all your problems, but it can fucking try.

It had been several days since it had happened, Ellie hadn't talked to Kyle directly but they'd managed to be on a discord call together more than once and talked civilly. It was a warm saturday morning, the sun shone brightly in the sky. Ellie turned on her computer and opened up discord, the usual guys were on call and she clicked the voice channel to join them.

"I'm just saying, I wouldn't say no to Jack Harkness" Lily's voice came through her headphones

"OMG HI Ellie" followed by a chorus of 'Hi' from everyone else. Ellie smiled and opened minecraft, they were all on the realm. It was complete madness as usual.

"I've finished the structure of the community house, no thanks to everyone else" Lily said

"Hey!" came Jamie' voice "I made all the sand penises!"

"Jamie I feel like that isn't the most helpful contribution, as much as Lily wants to see your penises"

"FUCK OFF" Ellie laughed and then smiled even more when she heard Kyle laughing too. Maybe this was a good day to speak to him, just the two of them.

Ellie was nervous, standing outside Kyle's house, was he going to slam the door in her face? Shout at her? There was only one way to find out. Waiting to hear his footsteps after she knocked was agonising but at last she heard them. He opened the door.

"Hi" he said

"Hey"

"What are you doing here?"

"I've come to apologise"

"Ellie-"

"I know that just apologising won't make up for what I said"

"It won't"

"But I'm willing to do whatever it takes, I love you and I made a huge mistake"

"What about Rou?"

"It was weird, he's a router and I'm human, he can never love me the way I love you"

"But he'll always be there"

He paused

"Whatever it takes?"

"Whatever it takes."

He looked into her eyes for the first time since he'd opened the door and took a deep breath.

"I want you to get rid of the router"

She paused. "i can't do that"

"what the fuck Ellie"

"i'm not getting rid of him"

"for fucks sake Ellie, it's not a him, it's an it"

"i don't care, i won't get rid of it"

"Ellie what is wrong with you? Don't you care about me at all?"

She paused, but before she could say anything he interrupted "you paused. That's a great sign. Why do you care more about this god damned router than about me"

She couldn't bring herself to say anything, but found herself thinking of Rou's hands, and how he had run his fingers along her body just a week ago.

"I don't" she said, finally.

"Please Ellie, I care about you so much, why are you letting it ruin our relationship?"

"Im not letting him do anything"

She sighed, but corrected herself, "i'm not letting it do anything"
