I do tend to make my covers darker, idk that's just what I prefer.
in all honesty themes (cover wise) aren't that cool. it doesn't give the story justice. it doesn't help me tell what the story's about, what kind of 'vibe' the story has.
make your covers unique, don't make them all identical, please.
for pfp and backgrounds, that's a different story. try your best to make them match. in my opinion, they're an important part of your profile besides stories and reading lists.
I would go for either black or white for your background since it's universal and you can use them for practically any pfp. for the pfp please do not put a quote or any type of words in it. it puts people off if they are worried about what your profile looks like, and it looks messy. you can find icons on Tumblr, Pinterest, we heart it, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
