Sasha Drozdov also known as the Blackbird is one of the best to come out of the Red Room, but when she is sent to Hydra for a mission they decide to keep her for many years to come. After the base is attacked she comes across a fami...
I walk into the dark office and stand tall with my arms behind my back in the perfect soldier pose. “Ma’am” My emotionless voice alerts her that I’m there.
“You have a solo mission but you will not be working under our name.” She presses a button on her keyboard and a screen bearing an unforgettable symbol shows itself. “Instead you will be working for Hydra on this mission.” I nod not daring to look directly into her stone cold eyes. “You will be given the file at their headquarters. Do exactly as it says and you may live though the mission, if not you know exactly what will happen. After they have released you head straight back here if you do not you will be punished, do you understand?”
“Yes Ma’am” As soon as I uttered those words everything around me started to fade and I knew where I would wake up. In Hydra’s hands.

I feel my hearing start to fade in and sense two other people in the room. I keep still hoping to catch whatever they are speaking about.
“The Black Bird will be up soon. Should we prepare anything?” One man said. His voice seemed to be about 12 feet away and the way his feet shuffled against the ground suggests that he is not only nervous but also not the one in charge. I can practically feel the heat radiating off his skin. This may be because I’m the second best in the Academy or he just gets nervous easily... who knows? Natalia is the best fighter, she's 4 years older than me and also my best friend. You don’t make friends in the Academy but we have survived more horrors than the others, that's why we're still alive.
“Do not be afraid, doctor. She knows what will happen if she does anything, so no need to prepare.” This voice was different. His had authority which means he's either the one in charge or close to it. I decide I probably shouldn’t keep them waiting and open my eyes as if I had just woken up. I sit up and slide off the cot I was just laying on and straighten into the perfect soldier pose. “If you follow me Black Bird, we will run a short test then give you the folder and your equipment.” The man with authority said then walked out with me and the scientist closely following.
“If you sit down in that chair, we will get started.” The scientist gestures towards the wooden chair in the middle. I nod and sit down in the chair, perfect posture is always expected. “All we’re going to do is ask you some questions while we test your strength” I nod and let them attach a device to my bicep.
“Why are you here?”
“A mission”
“What is your name?”
“Black Bird” I know better than to use my real name that they told me to forget.
“How old are you?”
“15” Natalia is 19 and has gone through the caramoney already.
“Who are your parents?”
“I don’t know”
“How long have you been in the Academy?”
“9 years”
“Are you ready to get started Black Bird?”
“Yes Sir”
“Good. Follow me to your containment room where your gear and folder is.” I’m surprised he didn’t call it a containment cell *hint starcasm* I follow him to the ‘room’ and see my suit sitting on the little cot along with a folder laying next to it.
“Suit up”
With that I slip off my clothes and slide the skin tight suit on and clip on my belt. I inspected the katana that was attached to the belt, this was my katana and I missed the feeling of it in my hand. I look over the folder and memorise everything I need to know. I walk out and a Hydra agent leads me to a room filled with weapons. The man with authority walks in and nods to one agent and he pulls a mask from one of the boxes. I know better than to ask or decline, they strap and lace it on. It feels like a muzzle.

You will be accompanied by one of our own. The Winter Soldier.” As if on cue he walks in and stands at attention. “Soldier, this is Black Bird. You both will complete the mission then report back. No witnesses.”
“Yes Sir” Our voices clash together as we answer to the one in charge. We get geared up and sit in our assigned seats as the jet takes off. The Winter Soldier sits across from me and I try to read him but his eyes hold no emotion. I decided to go over the files that I memorised and make sure the plan was fool proof. I stare emotionlessly as thoughts, disadvantages, and all possible outcomes swirl around in my head. I feel the jet land and start double checking my gear.
“Drop dead time is in 10 hours. If you're not here then mission failed.” The agent next to us shouts over the loud engine. Winter doesn’t answer and walks out the back with me following closely behind.
We non-stop walked for 2 hours until we came to a large military looking base. Winter and I share a look, silently communicating and we start making our way to the roof. I take out the agent that was patrolling without a sound and use his card to get through the door. Winter and I walk in taking out every agent we come across. The alarms start blaring and we stand in front of a set of double doors. We hold up our guns and kick each kick open the door that was in front of us. There stood 20-30 agents waiting for us on the other side. Bullets went flying and Winter blocked with his arm while I drew out my katana and started deflecting bullets, some hit other agents and some split from the impact. We both moved forward and started hand to hand combat and 30 agents went to 10 then 10 went 0 and we moved to the next door.
Behind each door were more agents but the two master assassins took them out like flies and soon all there was left were two hearts still beating. A computer lays on a desk in the main office and as I pulled out a hard drive, Winter stood watch because you could never be too careful. I got up once the download was complete and handed the drive to Winter. The mission only lasted three hours which means we have a 2 hour walk back plus an extra 3 hours.
After our walk back to the extraction point, we sat minding our own business. After 3 hours of cleaning guns, or a katara in my case, the same jet landed in front of us. Once we got back I waited in my ‘room’ to be sent back to the Academy. I feel the familiar prick of a needle only this time I didn’t black out I just couldn’t move.
“Oh no, my dear Black Bird, did you really think that you would be going back?” The one in charge shakes his head as he steps in my line of vision. “I believe you will be more useful to us than The Red Room... or The Academy as you call it. You surprised us with your skills there for you are now ours.
Welcome to Hydra, Little bird.”

“Ma’am, a letter has come in for you” The guard sets the letter down and waits to be dismissed. She nods her head and he leaves. After pulling the slip of paper out she reads the single sentence that’s written. She slams her fists down on the table and walks out of her office grabbing the closest guard to her while marching down to the armory. No guard has come out after being dragged in. A young woman stands there as she watches the woman drag him away. She looks around seeing that she is alone and silently slides in the office. A piece of paper lays on the desk. She reads and tears well up in her eyes. The red head felt her heart break as she realized her best friend was gone.
