It's cold, cold as a February day in Boston could get without snow. Even as as the harsh winter nips at her face, a girl no older than 23, finds herself bundled up in the elements. It wasn't unnatural for her to go walking, but she didn't wish to be walking in such cold weather. It was by pure force that she had to walk in the brisk air.
She shivered and tried to huddle all the heat she could. Her boyfriend, or shall we say ex-boyfriend, took her car without asking her, again. She mentally cursed herself for forgetting to take the keys back, the keys that held all her self defense weapons. Not to mention the sun was setting. It would be nightfall by time she got back to the campus. A soft whine fell from her quivering lips. Her feet were starting to go numb from the dumb cold. She would have to remind her friends to kill her ex for her. God knows she couldn't muster up the courage to do it herself.
Why didn't she just order an Uber or something or even her friends? That's the same question she was asking herself. She could whip her trusty phone out and order an Uber, sure, but she didn't quite have the funds to pay for an Uber at the moment, nor did she feel she needed to. Her dorm was only a couple blocks away. She could practically see it. Plus, her friends were all out and she didn't want to be a burden or hear them say 'I told you so' about letting her ex have access to her keys. As she had called it, the night sky was settling in. If she could only walk a little quicker she wouldn't have to worry about it.
Luckily the street lights were fairly bright enough to light up the rest of her route. She still had a decent amount of battery left in her phone. So she would be okay. Right?
Y/n wished she would have taken her keys back from her incompetent boyfriend, yet here she was running for her life. She seemed to had stumbled upon a dark alley that she wasn't supposed to. Usually she wouldn't think twice about looking in a dark alley, but she thought she heard a dogs whimper. Damn her and her good soul.
Instead of finding a poor injured puppy, she found a bloody beaten sap. Her eyes had widened in horror at the sight and she sucked in a breath before darting off.
"Wait! Shit! Follow her!" She heard the rough voice of men.
She didn't see much. Just the two men beating the shit out of another man. Her numb feet were now rushing her to get to safety, but her freezing hands were too shaky to even dial 911. Just up ahead was campus security. If she could just make it there...
But no, there was no escaping this for Y/n. Just as she was crossing the empty street the man caught her. She screamed, but her hand was quick to muffle her pleas. Kicking and flailing her legs didn't do any good either. He effortlessly dragged her into a nearby car. There was a man already waiting in the drivers seat, but she wasn't able to see him before a dark bag was being placed over her head.
Tears fell from her eyes as she wept. She wasn't even able to make it back home to see her family. Who would get her keys back. Would her friends miss her? Of course they would. She was going to die based off of a stupid mistake. She was usually so calculated. She's an honor student for crying out loud.
The least she could do was calculate the drive. The two men were quiet for the duration of what felt like a 30 minute ride. Y/n fumbled with her fingers, trying to come up with some plan so she wouldn't die.
Finally the car came to a stop and Y/n felt herself tense. They no doubt had her phone. She had felt them take it from her pocket during the drive. Someone yanked her out the car and she yelped at the brute force. She was pushed forward by her arms. Then they suddenly stopped her. Her body knocked against a metal pole. Slumping down to the ground she coughed out a scream. She stopped when the ground began to move. Her head shot up. She was in an elevator. She really couldn't see anything, even a sliver of light was lost in the bag over her head. But she could feel once they were at a standstill.
