From what may as well be considered infancy, Illumi Zoldyck was on a straight and narrow path. One that could never be strayed from or rejected. His resolve must be absolute at all times. There was no room for error.
*crash*
Should he fail...
*crack*
the punishment would be...
*sizzle*
Severe.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The delicate looking boy, no older than 16 crouched gently on the floor, hands on his knees. The blood flowed in rivers down his back, arms, and face. The flesh on his chest sizzled still from the hot iron brand. Yet, the boy showed no sign of pain. His eyes held no tears, instead they were cold, dry, and held no light.
"I apologize for my failure, Father. I will not fail again." He spoke in an even tone, one could only assume he felt nothing. However contrary to what they could see, illumi was in agony. Torture does not liberate you of feeling pain, it teaches you to handle it, to hide it. Illumi felt it all, but he was incapable of showing it, well, to anyone else at least.
"Correct, you will not fail me again. Now get out of my sight." Silva spat in a venomous tone. He motioned to a butler standing opposite to him to help Illumi, however the boy waved him off as his father turned and walked away, and Illumi got up on his own.
Barely limping, Illumi walked to his room and shut the door. Sighing as he walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower. The freezing water burned his fresh wounds and in the company of only himself, he let out a soft hiss. He washed his long black hair, then turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. After blow drying his hair, putting it in a messy bun, and dressing his wounds, he slipped into grey sweatpants and a pink cropped hoodie.
Now before you misunderstand, pink was certainly not Illumi's colour. He by no means enjoyed how bright it was. However, what he did enjoy was the scent. He enjoyed the musky smell and the hint of bubblegum that this particular hoodie held. You see, this hoodie originally belonged to Hisoka Morrow. The Grim Reaper himself. Illumi had known Hisoka for 2 years and counting now.
Did Illumi like Hisoka? I suppose you could say that. To be fair, he found the magician to be insufferable, annoying, much too touchy, and quite the chatterbox. But Illumi couldn't help but be enthralled, though he never showed it. Hisoka has a presence about him that's for sure, and it was something Illumi was not used to. For some reason, unknown to the assassin, he simply could not push Hisoka away as he had with everyone else. Now, this does not mean he's open with the older boy, quite the opposite, in fact. That being said, there have been a few moments when Illumi opened up slightly to Hisoka. Only slightly, though. But it was enough for Hisoka to see past his charade and provide some necessary comfort. Illumi was not "cuddly" per say, but he no longer detested being held in the magicians arms. Indeed he quite enjoyed it if it was on his terms.
As if on cue, Illumi heard a tap at his window. He opened the latch, letting Hisoka crawl in the opening. Illumi turned and sat on his bed, opening a book.
"I still don't understand how you get past Mike. He is ordered to rip intruders to shreds. You should've been in pieces years ago." Illumi scoffed out.
"Ahh, you'd like that wouldn't you~. My dear, I have my ways so do not worry~." Hisoka lulled in his usual flamboyant tone.
"Mm, wasn't worried." Illumi muttered. Hisoka rolled his eyes with a smirk and sat down beside Illumi on the bed.
"I see you're wearing my hoodie again, how adorable~."
"It's comfortable. It means nothing." Illumi stated with a warning in his tone, which Hisoka promptly ignored as he wrapped his arms around the boys waist and pulled him into his lap. Hisoka's back rested on the bed frame as the smaller boy sat tense in his lap. Illumi winced ever so slightly at the sudden movement, alerting Hisoka of what has happened minutes ago.
"Sorry lumi, dear~ was it bad this time?" Hisoka asked.
"Not my worst. I'm fine." Illumi replied.
Hisoka placed his chin in the crook of Illumi's neck. The black haired boy could feel his soft warm breath on his neck. Illumi gently laid his head back on the magician's shoulders. Hisoka turned on some soft calming music and they stayed in that position for a while. Hisoka gently playing with the boys hair while Illumi closed his eyes, feeling the warmth and presence of the older boy beside him.
"You know....I've got plans to go to heaven's arena again soon~ I've still got my room on the 200th floor, and you could come with~?" Hisoka offered.
"Hisoka, do you really think they'd let me? I thought you were smarter than that." Illumi said.
"I am smart, devilishly even, which is why I already know you've got an upcoming mission in that area~" Hisoka replied, smirking at his little comment.
"I don't know...I supposed it wouldn't seem too suspicious since we've worked together before." Illumi hummed as he thought about what to do.
"Come now darling~ it will be fun! We'll have a grand time...just the two of us~" Hisoka held him tighter as he said that, running through all he wanted to do with Illumi in his mind, mostly perverted things, this is Hisoka after all.
Illumi sighed. "Oh alright. When are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow, 10am~ I'll pick you up outside the doors." Hisoka answered.
"Ok." The boy replied. Deep down, he was almost happy to get away and spend time with Hisoka, however he wasn't fond of the risk of his parents finding out what is truly going on. They would most definitely kill him, or give him the beating of his life. He could never understand why he risked it all for the magician every time, but he did. And he's doing it again. Illumi sighed once more, crawling out of Hisoka's grasp and putting his book aside on the table. He turned back to the older boy.
"If this is indeed happening then you should go. I need to pack my things and talk to my parents." Illumi said.
"Fair enough~ though it pains me to leave~." Hisoka said dramatically, clutching his heart. He smirked and stood up, cupping Illumi's face in his hands.
"Adieu mon chérie~" Hisoka pecked Illumi on the lips, making the boy blush ever so slightly at the magician speaking French. Hisoka smirked and walked to the window.
"Until tomorrow, dearest~" he said, before leaping dramatically out the window, making Illumi roll his eyes as he shut the latch on the window.
Illumi got into bed and turned out the lights after he'd packed his bags. He'd talk to his parents tomorrow morning. He was sure his father wasn't in the mood to see him right now, best ask his mother. But now was not the time. Illumi sighed as he pulled the covers over his body.
"Until tomorrow..Hisoka."
And Illumi silently drifted off to sleep.
