He lifts his chin meeting my gaze, his eyes round and bright, pupils exerting daggers of sharp duplicity. He contradicts himself, perfect looks and an evil mind, an impossible yet addictive mixture. The wild landscape blurs past in the darkness as I glance past his complexion and into the woods. We fly down this country road with no headlights, a destination feeling unimportant.
I've seen this all before, an endless cycle of adrenaline and spontaneous decisions, we both know it exactly where it leads but there's nothing stopping us. Anticipating the illusion to come crashing down but knowing it will come back as it does every time, built to fall apart and fall back together. And so it goes, we fly through the night locked in each other's presence falling and spiralling into a personalised wonderland, only ever surfacing in an attempt to maintain a small reputation of sanity.
Lights flash, we take a sharp turn, sirens blaring in the beat of our hearts. I look over at Harry, a world of fire burning behind his cool eyes, he steps on the accelerator and we speed up, keeping a locked eye contact. The rear view mirror picks up a blasting blue and red light that screams danger but only fuels our excitement. With bags on my lap I brace myself for the up coming right, our usual place of escape, an abrupt turn into the woods weaving through trees whose patterns only we have memorised. Continuing at top speed we hurtle through the vegetation, the lights and sirens dimming in the distance, feeling a ring covered hand grab my thigh I look down to Harry's hand, a small 'TS' tattooed on his thumb, masking it with my matching 'HS', I link our fingers. Our laughs echo through the trees as we turn up the music, we have made it again... or so we thought because after all, nothing good starts in a Getaway car.
