Chapter 1

Willow

As I turned and ran to my house I thought, Felix was the only person (excluding my Mother) who knew my middle name, Sunflower. My middle name is sunflower because, well, it was my father's . . . favorite flower. I still miss him, my father had died when I was two, he had saved a three-year-old baby from a speeding car. The baby survived my father on the other hand . . . A couple of years later I met the "baby" Felix. Felix had told me he was sorry for killing my father, I told him it wasn't your fault, it was the cars, if it hadn't been there, my dad would . . . I burst into tears. Felix tried to comfort me, that's exactly how I fell in love with him, he was another version of my dad. Caring, kind, handsome, and, he cared about others more than he did himself. "Young man get your murdering hands of my precious Willow!" my mother had shrieked in fear, she thought he was going to kill me I realized. I was only six at the time and I didn't understand why she hated him but I found out just ten years later.

My mother disliked Felix because he was the baby and because he was the reason my father was dead. That was it. Period. Nothing left to say. I tried to explain to my mother one night, this is what happened; "Mother, Felix was-" "You are never to speak the name of that, that creature!" "He was just a-" "Go to your room this instant!" "Mother, PLease listen to me!" "Now Willow, I do this to protect you. You are forbidden to encounter that murdering creature ever again! Now, go to your room, before I get mad!" "Yes, Mother." I went to my room right away, I had everything I needed to survive a couple of hours. I locked my door and ran to my phone.

"Hey Ivy, do u have time 2 chat?" I texted her she responded with, "WILLOW!!!! DID U BRING IT UP? AGAIN!?!?!?!" " ivy u know i don't understand . . ." " Willow u should know this by now, ur mom hates the kid, u gotta learn to deal with it" "Ivy I can't." "Sadly, I know" "Hey I gotta go, bye?" " Yeah . . . I see him too, don't die!" "Yeah right." I set my phone down and changed from my smooth silk dress into a Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans. "Felix!" I expressed as I climbed from my balcony, "Where have you been?" "My...father took me to the seaside, I got you this gift." He handed me a small single sundial shell on a string so that it made a necklace. "Felix this is . . ." "It's not much but I thought you might like it" "Felix this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!" "Are you sure, it won't hurt my feelings if you don't like it." "I'm very sure Felix, so very sure." "Felix! Come here this very second!" Felix flinched, "My dad's calling me, I'll see you around?" "Yeah, I love you Felix!" "And I love you flower."

That was the day before he kissed me, the night that everything changed. I dashed to my room hoping to change before my mother came to check on me, I climbed up the rope, and someone fumed; "You are never to leave this room!!!!!! " my mother said it with a fire I had never seen in her eyes before. She was holding my arms over the railing so that my life was in her hands, if she wanted me dead all she had to do was let go. "Mother I don't understand!" she pulled me up and hit me. I fell to the floor in tears. "Mother, Please!" "I have been too kind to you." she scolded as she threw me on my bed.

I watched in grief as my mother locked my balcony door, she turned to me and lifted her fist. I flinched in fear she was going to hit me again. "What is this!?" she raged at me, i looked up to see the small seashell Felix gave me. "Mother," I moaned, "Mother please." She looked at me with a deadly fire in her eyes, "You are never to see that animal again." she slammed the gift on the floor and smashed it. I screamed as I heard the deafening sound of the shell. I turned and sobbed into my pillow. I heard my bedroom door lock and my mother laugh.

Suddenly i hear, When all you can do, Is turn back around, Walk over your footprints, To what you've already found, And crawl through the pieces, That you left on the ground, 'Cause everything is there, But its too close and it's too much, It's not the fear of letting go, But it's the fear of losing love. I picked up my phone and answered the call, "Hello?" "Willow? Are you alright?" it was Ivy I had realized, "No" I moaned "What's wrong? What happened?" "She found out.....Ivy she knows . . ." "Oh willow im so sorry" "Don't even Ivy" I hung up on her. I didn't feel like hearing her say, "You see Willow, You and Felix aren't meant to be. Forget him. Start playing with some other boy. Come on Willow, just forget him." I wouldn't forget him, I couldn"t forget him.

My mother walked through the door, "Sit up darling" i sat up, still crying she went behind me. I woke up somewhile later, my mother was nowhere in sight and my wrist really hurt. I tried to see them but they were stuck behind me. I screamed, but I couldn't. I looked up and saw Ivy facetiming me. "Willow, Willow. How? your probably thinking. Well i'll tell you. I told your mother you were still hanging out with the boy who killed your father. She busted you and I recorded her voice. I made something so that it sounded like I was your mother. I knocked you out and hogtied you. Well goodbye you little fool."

As soon as she hung up there was a loud Bang! I tried in vain to turn around, "Don't move." "Mmhhmh?" I closed my eyes and pleaded, please please please be Felix! I tore the mouthguard off, twirled in a circle and kissed him. "Felix. Oh Felix. How, how?" tears of joy slipped down my face. "Willow, I'm here, Willow my flower." "Tell me how you found me." Then he told me his side of the story, and he started from the very beginning.
