Chapter 16 ~ Juice

Maya waited near the back of the room when she saw all three men approaching her. With a heavy sigh, she quietly slipped past her dad and made her way over to Charlie. Her father didn't need to meet a man who wanted to slaughter him

"Hey Charlie"

"Tonight was great!" Charlie beemed like a proud father "Another amazing performance darlin' I hope you keep this as a career"

"Its something I dont like to dwell on" Maya admitted

"Well promise me you're keep thinking about it" Charlie smiled hugging Maya

"I promise" Maya returned his smile

Charlie had to say goodbye when his wife sent him a warning glare. Maya just laughed at him and even more when Charlie said that his wife was crazy and needed rehab. All in good fun though, Maya only wished she had a relationship like that when she was old and greying

With a tap on her shoulder just as she saw her dad, she spun around to face the person. Maya was breathless when she saw Wes, his hair was still a tad wet and loosing hanging on his forehead. His black shirt hugging his chest like a Dolce and Cabana model. But his eyes, his eyes were lighter than usual. They were beautiful, like clear blue waters on Hawaiian beaches

"Wes, hi" Maya said breathless still gazing into his eyes

"You were perfect"

"Thanks" Maya blushed

"Is Miles taking you home?"

Maya had to shy away at his question and suddenly felt Miles watching her from across the room. With a cheeky look, Miles sent Maya. She knew that he was leaving her with Wes

And Miles was back

"He was, just until I saw him walking out the door" Maya mumbled

"Well then thats great!" Wes clapped "I actually wanted to take you out for dinner, if you're hungry?"

With a loud rumble of Maya's stomach, she smiled sheepishly and nodded but her smile quickly turned into a frown

"Could you wait a sec? I just need to speak to someone"

"Sure, I'll be out front"

Maya watched Wes leave and she turned to see her dad right behind her. A frown appearing on his face

"Who was that?" Frank practically demanded

"He's a friend" Maya answered truthfully, a small guilt feeling building up in her stomach

"Where's he from?"

Maya stumbled for words, because honestly she didn't know. Come to think if things she didn't really know Wes at all

"What did you really want dad"

Frank frowned at his eldest daughter "I just came to tell you that your mother is being realeased next week, she's healing quicker than the doctors thought"

"Good, I think I'll come visit her again soon"

"And I also came to watch you perform, you were amazing Maya" Frank praised "You should have never given up singing as s career"

"Things happen, people change" Maya shrugged "If its meant to be it'll happen"

"Your willingness to let 'fate' do its work is highly unmotivating" Frank nodded

"I have no choice"

"Everyone has a choice, it's just the determination one desires how much they accomplish" Frank scolded his daughter "Never forget that Maya, Everyone has options and choices"
