"Yeah, yeah. Must've left the meat knife out last night and forgotten about it. Slice clean down the side of my hand." She said, pulling the hand away from her mouth to examine it.

Rex stood and walked over to see the bloody cut. "Here." He reached into the cabinet under the sink and pulled out the first aid kit. She let him put some mid grade bacta spray on it and wrap it up.

Cody flinched. "I'm sorry, Ahsoka. I must've left it out when putting the dishes away." He apologized. Ahsoka shoot her head.

"Cody, you know we take the knives out of the sink before you wash the dishes. I just left it out after dinner yesterday. You know how my short term memory has gone to heck the last couple weeks." She said.

Rex tied off the bandages now wrapped around her hand. A little overkill, if you asked her, but he got the job done. She gave him a thankful kiss before he returned to his spot at the little table.

"So, what kind of meat is this, 'Soka?" Cody asked, changing the subject.

"Snake." She said, making both of the brothers pause staring at her. "Kidding! I'm kidding. The snake is for me. You guys get store bought."

"Remind me to never steal food from Ahsoka's plate." Cody grumbled lowly.

"At least she bothered to cook it this time." Rex grunted, going back to his plate. Ahsoka just laughed.

Once breakfast was done and over with, Rex and Cody cleared the table. Ahsoka sat on the porch swing on the back deck, rocking and humming to herself tunelessly. A flicker of a headache spiked through his skull. The familiar words were just beginning to take shape when a loud crash and the tinkling of broken ceramic pulled him out of it.

"Cody, are you ok? Don't move. I'm going to get shoes for you." Rex cautioned. Cody realized he had dropped the plate he was holding and it had shattered on the ground.

Ahsoka stuck her head in from the back door.

"Everything ok?" She asked. Cody nodded in her direction.

"Lost my grip on a plate. Dropped it." He said. Rex returned with shoes and helped Cody put them on without stepping on the sharp shards on the ground.

"I've got the broken plate. You get the rest of the dishes." Cody nodded and went to work, finishing clearing the table.

Once Rex thought it was safe to walk through the area again, the broken shards cleaned up as best as he could, Ahsoka ventured into the house. She almost immediately found a missed shard by the door, cutting the back of her heel up. Rex sighed and picked her up, setting her on a stool.

"If there's a sharp anything anywhere, trust Ahsoka to find it." He chuckled. "It's really not your day, is it."

Ahsoka hissed slightly as he pulled out the offending sharp object and sprayed more bacta on the open cut.

"Not my day at all." She laughed raggedly as he wrapped it up. Cody flinched slightly. The pain was in his heart this time, not his head.

He had promised himself he'd die before he hurt Ahsoka. Yet twice in an hour, she had gotten hurt for something he'd done.

Ahsoka slid off the stool and tested her weight on her foot.

"Yeah, that's going to be sore." She winced, limping a little. Cody's mind was made up.

He was not going to watch himself hurt them any more.

Rex woke up in the middle of the night, adrenaline spiking through him even though he hadn't had another nightmare. He sat up, sliding out of bed as quietly as he could and reaching out and feeling for enemies through the force.
