Ahsoka pulled away and grabbed his hand, tugging to pull him down a hallway leading off the living room. "There's a porch out back overlooking the garden. The fresh air will do you some good." She said. Rex followed her obediently, even though his legs were tired by now and he wanted to sit down.

She lead him outside. It was nice under the shade but still really bright. Rex liked the light. There was a little bench swing at the end of the deck that Ahsoka lead him over to. It was loud outside too. Loud in an almost quiet way. Wind rustled through the bushes and trees, birds chirped and insects buzzed.

Ahsoka sat next to him on the swing. Rex was tired but he lifted his arm and wrapped it around her waist. She tucked her feet up next to her and leaned into him. It felt right.

Rex sighed contentedly, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. He liked it here. It felt safe.

Rex dozed a little, enjoying the nice day and the warm breeze. He remembered something, and it itched at the back of his mind. He opened his eyes.

"Ahsoka?" He rasped, his voice a little stronger now. Ahsoka hummed sleepily from where she was cuddled up next to him.

"Yes love?" She asked softly.

"You never did tell me what my surprise was." He whispered. Ahsoka paused, frozen like a ruping in headlights. "It's ok if you don't want to tell me." He filled in hastily.

Ahsoka blew out a long breath, adjusting her position on the bench next to him. She was silent for a long time. Rex had started to drift back into that half asleep grey place when she spoke.

"Here." She whispered, taking his free hand and placing it on her lower belly, just under her navel. "Feel that?" She asked. Rex frowned, pressing gently. Ahsoka laughed a little.

"With the force, Rex. Do you feel that?" She asked again. Rex concentrated, gently running a mental touch along the lines of the force. At first, all he felt was her. Then he found it. Almost like an echo of her force signature. No, not an echo.

A second force signature.

Rex looked up, meeting Ahsoka's eyes. She was smiling at him, but her eyes were wide and afraid.

"How long have you known?" He asked.

"Since that day in the medbay after I passed the saber to Bo-Katan. It came back in the blood work." Her voice was slightly choked. Rex's only response was to pull her into his lap. She was getting to tall to do this.

She leaned her head on his shoulder and pulled her knees up. Finally, after a few seconds, she sighed softly.

"You're not mad? That I didn't tell you sooner? That-"

"I'm not mad, Cyare." He cut her off. She gave a high pitched whine and hid her fave in his neck. "Terrified? Yes. Anxious? Absolutely." He grated. "Happy?" Rex turned his head to press a kiss to the valley between her montals. "I'm ecstatic."

Ahsoka sniffed a little. "I didn't want to loose you again. Don't want to see you become a living corpse again." She whispered.

"I have no plans on that ever happening." He tilted her chin up so he could kiss her properly. "Not when my family needs me." He  promised.

"Five and a half months left." She murmured. Rex moved a hand back to her lower belly. "Twenty three weeks." He finished. Ahsoka nodded. Rex pulled his wife a little closer. He prayed the republic never found out that they had survived that cruiser crash.

A/N - ...Surprise? Ok. Most of us knew it was going to happen eventually. That being said, only about twenty-twenty five chapters left. That'll cover nearly a year after order 66 and then an epilogue. So be prepared to have more time jumps between chapters.

While I was writing this my own little child dropped in to say hello. Meet my daughter Dream.

She thinks she's a dog. Likes belly scratches and playing fetch. Also is a fierce worm hunter and leaves giant night crawlers on the kitchen floor (if she doesn't eat them...). Normally I don't mind worms, but if you've ever stepped on a foot long night crawler as thick as a dime in the middle of the night I'd bet you'd scream too.
