Sulking in the den

With every light on in the room

Even still

No one could ever look as ominous as you

Your temper was flaring

Face luminous as it shadowed rage

You took your mask off

And filled your heart with hate

Quickly you had risen from your throne of bottles

To give your festering and sick words to the women who you'd coddled

She had given her life to you

She was your crowning believer

But you held her to the floor

And told her if she'd left you'd beat her

With the hands you'd once gently cupped her face with

You'd forcibly wrap around her delicate wrists

Then you had stood

Towering over her shaking and hurting body

Looking as the devil whom you'd emobied

She tried to get up, a count of three

You'd lifted your leg to her chest

Each time you'd kick her down so carelessly

And finally you let her stand

She attempts to escape

But on two feet you land

She had her hand on the door

Half way out and she had almost made it

Just an inch more

But you made her lose her grip

Ripping her shirt collar

You tore her back inside

She knew if she didn't escape in time

You'd commit homicide

Fleeing again you block her way

She breaks down in horror

As you scream in her face

"IF YOU DONT SPEAK I WILL HIT YOU"
"I WON'T LET YOU LEAVE"
"I WANT YOU TO FEEL THE PAIN I FEEL"

You repeat

And repeat

And repeat

But her ears are ringing

She's since drowned you out

Thinking about what door

What window leads where

How is she to run away now?

As you turn away from her tear stained face

Her feet quickly hit the floor

She will never have to return to the place

Of the most hell that she'd endured

She ran to safety

Until her lungs burned by every breath

No longer emprisoned by your encasing

Not having to expect her death

And every day she is grateful to have unveiled your true intentions

Still learning the difference between true care and abusive affection

You are forgiven

For being another life lesson

Another trauma bond given to her

To unlearn emotional suppression
