A Chicago Love Story (Part 27)

*3-4 months pass, the school year is over and  Laiya has graduated. A plan has been made for her family to visit Atlanta again so she can see her family.*

It was the first day of summer break and I was finally finished with school. I decided to take some time off and decide what I wanted to do. Momma and Daddy told me about getting a job at a store in the mall so I figured I'd head down there and get an interview. We was gon head back to Atlanta for a few weeks so that Mani could see her mom and stuff and just to hang out. We was planning on leaving tomorrow so I was packing up everything today. I wanted to go hang out with Von before tomorrow but I had a feeling Momma and Daddy wouldn't let me. I went downstairs and said "Can I leave?" Daddy turned around and said "To where?" Me: "I wanna go see Von before I leave tomorrow." Daddy: "Ion know ask ya momma." I went back upstairs and into Momma's room. Me: "Momma can I go see Von?" Momma: "Go ask ya daddy." Me: "He told me to ask you." Momma: "Then go. Just don't be out all night, ion wanna miss this flight." Me: "Okay thank you." Momma: "My keys is on the counter." I walked downstairs and grabbed Momma's keys. Daddy: "Where you goin?" Me: "To see Von... you told me to ask Momma and she said I can go." Daddy: "Ro!" Momma: "What??" Daddy: "You told her she can go??" Momma: "Nigga you told her come ask me and I told her she can go. I'm not arguing wit you, you like a little girl." Daddy: "Oh shut da hell up! I'm making sure." Momma: "You shut da hell up! She's grown, if she wanna go somewhere she can. If she takes one of our cars, all she gotta do is ask. You needa mind yo damn business na." Daddy got up and walked upstairs and I heard them talking. Momma: "You always gotta keep some shit goin Dennis. I'm done havin this conversation, I said she can go. Dassit. If you didn't want her to leave, you shoulda told her no when she asked you. Be happy she asked!!" Daddy: "What?" Momma: "She coulda jus up and left, we wouldn't know where tf she was at. She asked, respect that. You not gon be able to control her forever D." Me: "Period!" Momma: "Laiya hurry up and go before I change my damn mind!" I opened the door and walked out. There was some kids in the street playing football and some lil girls was sitting in a group across the street watching them. When I got in the car, I called Von so he'd know I was coming over. He didn't pick up so I called again. Somebody picked up but it wasn't him. Me: "Hello?" I heard a female on the other side say "Is this your girlfriend?" Me: "Who is this??" The girl started laughing then she said "Von I'm fr is this your girlfriend? What she look like?" I stayed quiet so I could hear more conversations. She said "Hey girly! I know youn know me but I'm-" then I heard Von on the phone and he said "Move! Hello?" Me: "Who is that..." Von: "Uh... Lai? Wyd?" Me: "Who is that?" Von: "Nobody Lai." Me: "Don't sound like nobody, who is it? I won't get mad." Von: "I'm fr it ain't nobody important." Me: "Well I'm comin over." Von: "Why?" Me: "Cus I go back to Atlanta tomorrow and I wanted to come see you. I wanted to call before I came over, I'm glad I did. Who is she?" Von: "Laiya, you acting out rn." Me: "How? I'm calm, I just wanna know who it is. Why ain't you telling me?" Von: "I did tell you." Me: "I'm still coming over." Von: "Uh... Ight. Imma be outside when you pull up." Me: "Okay." Von: "I love you." I hung up and smacked the steering wheel. He bet not be doin wtf I think he doing. I cut the car off and walked back in the house. Daddy was in the living room and said "Whatchu doing?" Me: "I gotta change. It's too hot..." Daddy: "Told yo ass not to wear no damn leggings inna summer." I rolled my eyes and walked in my room. I put on some shorts that was a lil short and a white spaghetti strap shirt. I put on some furry slides and walked back downstairs. Daddy: "What da f-" Me: "I'm not changing, bye." I walked outside and got back in the car. I started it up and drove to Von's house.

When I pulled up, I had music blasting and I seen Von and some dudes sitting on his porch. I cut everything off and got out. I closed the door then crossed my arms and leaned up against the car. Von got up and walked near me. He tried to give me a hug but I put my hand up and squinted at him. Von: "Wassup? You look good today." Me: "Who da fuck was that onna phone Von?" Von: "I told you it wasn't nobody important." Me: "If it wasn't nobody important, why was da bitch answering yo phone fa you?" He rubbed his forehead and started looking around. He put his hands on my waist and said "Lai." Me: "Answer the question." Von: "You know I'm not doin nun like that." Me: "No I don't. Ion know whatchu be doin. Von, I can't go thru this again." I took his hands off my waist and he stared at me. Me: "Answer my question please." Von: "She ain't nobody I'm fw Laiya." Me: "That's not what I asked. Who is that hoe and why was she answering yo phone for you? Matta fact, whea she at?" I tried to walk past him and he grabbed my arm and put me back against the car. Me: "Move." Von: "Laiya." Me: "What? I'm not mad or nothing. I wanna see who she is." Von: "Look at me Laiya." I looked at him and he had a straight face. Me: "What?" Von: "I'm not playin games witchu today." Me: "I ain't playin no games. You not answering my questions so imma have to get some answers myself." I tried to walk past him again but this time he stepped in front of me and said "Lai, it was my homegirl. She play too much." Me: "See nah cus why ain't you say that earlier? Or when I asked otp? Sum is up." Von: "Laiya-" Me: "And why ain't you letting me go near the door?" Von: "Cus you fuckin crazy! Ion want you fightin no damn body." Me: "Ion fight over niggas. Imma investigate, get all the information I need, then imma simply leave." Von: "What information is you talkin bout??" Me: "You not givin me any typa information bout this girl so imma walk in and find it myself." I walked past him and he grabbed my hand. Me: "I stg if you keep grabbing me, I will punch you in yo fuckin face and you know I will. Move." Von: "Why are you doing this?" Me: "I'm not doing shit." Von: "Ion want you goin over there wit that shirt on either. Dem niggas do too much." Me: "Ion give a damn." Von: "Why ain't you got a bra on?" Me: "Boy please ain't nothing on my chest that them niggas wanna look at." I pulled away from him and walked over to the door. I knocked on the door and seen Von's dad. Pops: "Wassup?" Me: "Hi can I come in?" Pops: "Who you got witchu?" Me: "Nobody." He leaned out the screen and started looking around. Pops: "Ight mane." He opened the door and let me walk in. I seen Ms. Yvette sitting on the couch with a baby in her hands. Me: "Hi Ms. Yvette" She looked up and said "Oh hi baby! I would get up and give you a hug but I'm a lil occupied 😂" Me: "Nah you good." Ms. Yvette: "So what brings you ova here?" Me: "I came to see Von before I left back to Atlanta." Ms. Yvette: "Oh was he not outside?" Me: "He was but I wanted to come say hi to you and Durk and allem folks 🤣." Ms. Yvette: "Oh okay, most of them in the kitchen." I nodded and walked in the kitchen. I seen 2 girls, Durk, DaeDae, Doodie, and Loc. Durk: "Aye wassup?" He walked over to me and gave me a hug. Me: "Nun... I'm goin back to Atlanta tomorrow for a cuppa weeks and I wanted to say bye to everybody." One of the girls was staring at me and I was wondering if she was the one otp.  One of the girls was dressed how Von and nem be dressing so I had a feeling it wasn't her but the other one just kept staring at me. Doodie: "You goin back to Atlanta?" Me: "Yeah so Mani can see her brother and shit. I wanna go see my gramma too." I looked at Loc and said "Look who finally brought his ass out da house 😂" Loc: "Mane it's summer time na, imma be out a lot." DaeDae: "Cap." Loc: "Nigga what?" Doodie: "Yo ass said the same thing last summer and stayed inna house for most of the time 🤣." Von walked in behind me and said "Lai, I needa talk to you." Me: "Ain't nun to talk about Von." He put his hand on my arm and I said "Don't touch me please." He looked at the girl and then Durk. DaeDae: "Da fuck happened between y'all??" Me: "Nothing." Von: "Really?" Me: "Mhm." The girl started laughing then everybody looked at her. Von: "Ain't shit funny." Durk: "Mane what happened?" Me: "Nothing." Loc: "Nah nigga this ain't "nothing" some shit went down." I looked at him and stared. DaeDae: "Dat look mean stfu. My momma always look at me like that." Durk: "Nika why was you laughing?" The girl looked up and said "Huh?" Durk: "What was you laughin bout?" Nika: "Nothing." Von: "She play too damn much mane." Nika: "I said I was sorry Von 🤣." Durk: "Whatchu do?" Nika: "Some girl was callin Von and I picked up and she got mad. Idk who she was." Durk, DaeDae, Doodie, and Loc all turned they heads and stared at me. Doodie: "Awe sheit..." Von pushed his dreads back and tilted his head back. Me: "I'm not mad." Nika: "Oh that was you? Heyy!" Von: "Nika! Stop nigga damn." Nika: "Whatttt? I just said hey 🙄" I stared at her for a few seconds then said "Mm. Anyways imma be headin back inna cuppa minutes. I'll see y'all inna few weeks." Loc: "I thought you was leaving tomorrow." Me: "I am." Doodie: "Den stay here for a cuppa hours, girl. Yeen gotta leave." Me: "I think it's best if I do." Durk: "Hell nawl mane you finna stay." I looked at Nika then at Von and said "Fine." Von: "Can I talk to you now?" Me: "Ight wassup?" Von: "Come on." He pulled me out the kitchen and walked me upstairs. He opened his door and pointed to his bed. I sat on the corner of it and crossed my legs. Von: "Really?" Me: "What?" Von: "You really gon pull up doin allis extra shit?" Me: "What extra shit? I pulled up calm and collected, a lil attitude and dassit. If I was to pull up doin sum "extra shit", I woulda had dat hoe inna yard leaking." Von: "Can I tell yo ass what happened so you'll stop dis?" I stared at him for a few seconds then nodded. He sat next to me and said "Nika is my homegirl." Me: "We established that." Von: "She came in here to wake me up and my phone was ringing and she answered it. She wouldn't gimme my phone back and she was playin too much." Me: "Mhm." Von: "Dawg she don't even like dudes. That girl she was standing next to is her girlfriend." Me: "Okay." Von: "Laiya." Me: "What? I'm fine." Von: "Don't pull no shit Lai." Me: "Okay damn." Von: "You ain't even gimme a hug or nun." Me: "And?" Von: "I'm not playing witchu Lai." Me: "I'm not playin either 🤣." I got up and he stood in my face. Me: "Move." Von: "No." I tried walking around him but he put his hand on my throat and stared at me. He leaned in and gave me a kiss then his door opened and Nika walked in. Nika: "Oh damn... imma come back later." Von: "It's good we boutta come downstairs." She nodded and shut the door. Von: "Keep on actin up." Me: "Shut up." He gave me another kiss then smacked my butt and said "Come on."
