I remember you saying
you always wanted to wish
on a star and watch it stream
across the night sky, burning
itself up as the stardust became
the magic that would make
your wish come true,

so I plucked one from its
place in the sky, next to the
fullest moon I'd ever seen,
handing it to you all nicely
wrapped in lace ribbons.

Then you smiled and told me
you had made wishes on
a four leaf clover before
removing its petals,
a dandelion before blowing
the seeds into the wind,
a wishbone before
breaking it in half,
and all the lucky things
you could think of.

You said you never knew
exactly what you were wishing
for until you heard me say
the words, "I love you".
