Part 17 Confusion

Start from the beginning

Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki looks around for the last time. To the house, she bought with her husband almost eleven years ago. The place they called home and dreamed of raising their children together and grow up old together. The thing is that life has other plans for them. After so many years away from each other, they will finally be reunited. The only difference is that their precious child will not be with them.

On their way to the airport, Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki and Laura sat in the back, holding hands, and going over a lifetime of memories.

That lifetime is half of the life of Laura. When Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki began to take care of her when Malee got sick the second time.

"I want you to promise me that you will continue to be the amazing girl that you have always been. I want you to fight for your dreams and be as happy as you can. [breaking voice] I will miss you, but I know that I am leaving you with great people." Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki hugged Laura.

Tears slide off her rosy cheeks like dew on a rose. Laura felt her heart shrink, just like when Gulf told her about their parents' deaths years ago.

"I-I will be good. I will make you proud and Ma-Malee as well. Now I have a family, but it will not be complete without you." Laura hugged her tighter.

Gulf was chocked up by the emotional moment in the back seat of his car. He knows that thanks to Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki, he could have peace of mind knowing that Laura was taking care of by a great person. Now, that person is leaving to start a new life, away from them.

He is also grateful that he now has Mew and the other family member to take care of Laura when he is not around. Especially Mew, Laura, and he are developing a special bond that he has only seen with Malee.

They reached the airport entrance. As Gulf parked the car, Laura holds Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki's hands tightly, looking at her with sad eyes.

"I know honey, it breaks my heart seeing you like this. I will call you as much as possible. I want you to send me texts, emails, anything to keep me up to date with what's going on in your life." Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki caresses Laura's chin then her left cheek.

Gulf opened the door, breaking the moment. "Sorry, but I cannot stay standing here for long." He said.

"I understand. Plus, I would not want you to go inside with me, it will be too painful going through the gate and watch you two getting further away from me. Here is fine to say farewell." Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki gets off the car, leaving Laura inside.

She fixes her hair, looks at Gulf, and smiled at him. "Come here you, I will miss you, my great friend. Thank you for everything. You were there with me in all my most important moments and I will never forget that."

Gulf's eyes began to shine, he does not know how long he can hold it, but he is about to cry.

"Don't you cry on me now, I want to remember a happy face. [whispering] Don't be afraid, listen to your heart." Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki kissed Gulf and turned around to grab the urn with Malee's ashes.

Gulf's gaze was of a confused person. "What you mean? Afraid of what?" Gulf noticed how she indicated for the attendant to start going in with all her suitcases.

She began to walk when Laura's voice came out. "I will miss you Malee." Laura waved and Mrs. Sitwat-Suzuki also waved to both of them.

Gulf and Laura stayed there for a while until the security officer told them to move and they did. They headed to the hospital where for the first time, Laura will be going in and Malee will not be there.

Seattle's weather can be unpredictable, but this seems like the sky was crying. Crying because a young girl is feeling sad, her best friend and the person she could see as a mom were now gone.
