"And don't think of coming back!" Turtlefoot puffed, aiming a blow at the haunches of his attacker as they turned tail. An arrogant air of pride surrounded the cream tom as he turned around, leaping determinedly at another cat. This one was a lithe, grey striped being, a startled cry being ripped from their lungs as Turtlefoot bowled them over.
Quickly, Turtlefoot dug his claws into the cat's back, pulling harshly to the side to unbalance them. As he pinned their shoulders, an aching burn settled onto his shoulders, and Turtlefoot took a deep breath to ignore the claws ripping through his skin. Restlessly, he battered his hind legs into the cat's stomach, pulling clumps of fur out and queasily ignoring the blood. Turtlefoot flinched as the cat desperately swung a grey paw at his white ear, squinting as blood dribbled into his eye.
The cat, yearningly, pushed their legs up onto Turtlefoot's soft belly, digging their claws in and pushing in an effort to free themself. Turtlefoot, agitatedly, swung a paw at the cat's amber eyes, and raised himself onto his back legs. Blood ran down his flank from where the stranger landed their blows, and he unsteadily stared down at the cat with one, challenging, clear amber eye. Red welled at the cat's muzzle, and after giving an annoyed glare, said cat scrambled up and dashed for the nearly-destroyed-bush that used to be the entrance to MoonClan's camp.
'Wait until Midnightpelt hears about this move!' He thought, prideful.
Turtlefoot dropped back down to his front paws, shuddering out a breath as he shook one leg unnervingly. Pain was coming from all of his legs, and his ear seared. He shook his head, instead darting his eyes around to see if any intruders were left. He flexed his claws as he watched Moonstar, his mother, be surrounded by MoonClan whilst pinning Colorblaze to the ground.
"Do you promise to take all, and I mean all of your cats, out of clan territory, and to never make contact with our cats ever again?" Moonstar demanded, huffing as she stood shakily above the amber splashed tom.
"Why should I ever listen to your flea ridden pelt?" Colorblaze spat, fury in his deep amber eyes.
"I said", Moonstar coldly said, deepening her claws onto Colorblaze's neck, "do you promise to take all of your unwanted rogue friends out of clan territory, and to never return to here or any clan ever again?" Muttering sounded among the MoonClan cats as silence had filled Colorblaze's response, instead the scrabbling of his claws against the ground filled the void. "...I will not repeat-"
"Fine!" The cream colored tom responded desperately, "Just let the others go safely home!"
Moonstar, somewhat satisfied, unpawed the young tom, watching him coldly as he shook his fur, blood dripping around him, before Colorblaze rose his voice into a breathy yowl, flicking his tail and watching as his remaining cats let go of cats and stood back up. Dipping his head in embarrassment at his defeat, Colorblaze trailed out of the camp, his cats following obediently. On the floor of the camp, Turtlefoot noticed some of their collars were left behind, dog teeth and claws still visible.
Moonstar swung her head "Crowwing, Leafthroat, Puddleflash, Mosstuft and Nectarpool, escort them and make sure they get some distance between the territories and themselves." She commanded, exhaustedly stumbling back into her den as said cats filed after the rogue group.
Firenose and Rubblepaw dashed around to the cats, checking wounds and pulses and chewing herbs. Turtlefoot paused, feeling off. Where was his sister? He swung his head around, looking for a white and black body, one eye squinted shut. He padded forward, glancing around the clearing, before pausing. At the far right side, farther away from the entrance, he spotted the familiar body. Worriedly, Turtlefoot quickened his pace.
In a timid matter, Turtlefoot gathered up enough strength to roll the body so it was facing him. He held in a gasp as he met Midnightpelt's dull purple eyes, wincing at the slash in her throat and the wounds decorating her flank and stomach.
"Who... who did this to you?" Turtlefoot rasped out, desperately placing a paw on a flank wound to stop the blood, even as it poured out around his white paws. A gurgle escaped his sister, but Turtlefoot hushed her. "No, no no no don't speak, I'll find who did this, or you can tell me later when you're better, okay? And don't even think about responding to that either!" He fretfully rushed.
'The wounds aren't too deep, don't be so flustered,' Midnightpelt's voice taunted at the back of his head.
"You're choking on your own blood, mouse brain!" He snarled, pushing harder on her flank, and resting another paw against a wound on the small of her back. "How could you say- no, think something so foolish! Especially to me!" He cursed out, trembling, "How do you think I feel right now?" He tried saying quietly, "I lost Snowbelly last moon, I can't lose you too!"
'Hey,' Midnightpelt called, 'Snowbelly's death wasn't your fault, okay? And mine won't be either-'
"Stop saying things like you're going to die!" The tom snapped, "I'm going to get Firenose and Rubblepaw over here so they can properly treat you, okay? Or maybe it'd be better not to let you suffer but I don't want you to die like this and if you leave now I'll just be more torn up and-" Turtlefoot drawled on, Midnightpelt's watchful gaze watching his descent into grief. Crimson dripped from her chin as she smiled weakly.
'It's okay. I won't be in any more pain after this.'
"I just-" Turtlefoot gulped, "Please don't leave me." He said sorrowfully, pressing his paws harder in, "Letting you leave will be the hardest thing I'll have to do. You're my sibling, for Starclan's sake." His amber gaze hardened as Midnightpelt's gaze weakened again. "I shouldn't have let this happened. We should've stayed with our original plan."
'I should've listened to Cricketnose more,' Midnightpelt weakly giggled, her internal voice becoming quieter, 'maybe then I'd be better at fighting in pairs.'
Turtlefoot agitatedly ignored her humor, radiating guilt, "Please forgive me. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm the worst sibling ever."
'I forgive you.' Her purple gaze met his, closing them weakly in a smile, before opening again. They seemed dull, duller than the time she lost a rabbit in leaf bare. Duller than when they saw Twig had passed on. Duller than the day Ryestar had died. He flinched, burying his muzzle into her black fur.
"Please don't leave. Don't leave me here alone."
          'I don't think I really have a choice.'
          "But-"
'We both know how this will end, Turtle.' He inwardly flinched at the comment. A whine left Midnightpelt as he pressed his paws into the wound harder, before he drew the blood stained limb away. Turtlefoot met her eyes timidly.
"You have to say hi to dad for me, okay? And Snowbelly, and Suncloud, and," he paused, shuddering, "and Twig, okay? Tell them how much I miss them. How much I'll miss you," he broke at the end of the sentence, dropping his paws and pathetically crying into his sister's shoulder. "Stay. Please stay."
Silence filled her response, and Turtlefoot took up the silence in an attempt to comfort his sister. "Did I tell you about how I did in battle?" He asked, grief in his strained voice, "I battered up the cat so much. I did that one move you showed me, the one where you make your opponent unbalanced by tugging on their fur? I even did that style of pinning you showed me, but I added extra damage by battering the foxheart's stomach! We should try it out, okay? Maybe when things clear up again, and we have free time. Wouldn't that be great?.... Midnight?"
Turtlefoot looked up, searching for a response in Midnightpelt's purple eyes, only to find them dull and empty. A cry of anguish was ripped from him, as he stood up onto his paws shakily. "Firenose! Rubblepaw! Please save her!" He shakily turned around, only to be met with almost the whole of MoonClan sat behind them. Most had dipped their head, some muttered apologies and comforts. Cricketnose looked the most distraught, almost as much as Turtlefoot did.
The cream tom met eyes with Firenose, who sat closest to the front, but she did nothing but shake her head in dismay. "We lost her. I don't think I could've helped her. I'm sorry, Turtlefoot." She lowered her orange head, staring at her paws. Another howl of pain raised in Turtlefoot's throat.

That was the day Turtlefoot broke for the third time.
