Characters in Volume 1

•Gu Yun/ Shen Shi Liu /Gu Zi Xi : Flower of the North
leader of the black iron camp. Marquis of Order. Only son of the old marquis and first Princess. He had two red moles under his eye and ear. He was poisoned by an arrow to the knee and that resulted in him losing his eyesight and hearing. He takes medicine for it.
Took over the army at age 15 and was glorious in his first battle.
Led the western expedition at age 17.

•Chang Geng/Li Min/Yan Bei Wang/ Yan Wang: fourth prince

• Shen Yi/ Ji Ping : Gu Yun's babysitter, maid, accountant, and his right hand man. Lol

•Ge Pang Xiao/Ge Chen : Fat and cute boy. Son of the local butcher in Yanhui Town. Has severe interest in mechanics.

•Cao Niang Xi : born as a boy but brought up as a girl. Will do anything for a good looking man 😂

•Hu Ge Er / Xiu Niang : chang Geng's aunt (mother's sister). Also faked to be chang Geng mother.

• Mayor Xu Bai Hu : chang Geng's step dad. He was a member of the the gaint kite, who went to collect taxes from the northern barbarian tribe.

•Master Guo: Yanhui town's governer.

•Jia Lai Ying Huo : barbarian prince (heavenly wolf sect)

• Ge Tu : fallen barbarian king. Father of Jia Lai. Old marquis defeated him and this dude is on prosthetic legs coz of the old marquis.

•Lin Mo Sen: Gu Yun's teacher

•Old Marquis Gu Shen: previous leader of black iron camp. Led the northern expedition and defeated the 18 barbarian tribe. Gu Yun's dad.

•First Princess Li Tong: wife of the old Marquis. Gu Yun's mom. Only living child of the former emperor.

•Former Emperor: founder of Ling Shu Institute and Black iron Camp. Had 4 wives and 5 kids (3 sons and 2 daughters) but only the first Princess survived and later married the old Marquis.

•Yuan He: emperor at the start of the novel. Chang Geng's dad. Had 3 sons with the queen(s) and 1 son with the royal consort. Dies 3 days after meeting Chang Geng due to old age.

Goddess of the heavenly wolf sect: Chang Geng's mom. Was stolen from the heavenly wolf sect when they lost the battle, 14 years ago at the hand's of the old marquis. And Yuan He took her as the royal consort. He probably raped her.

• Long An/ Li Feng: new emperor. The first child of Yuan He. Used to be known as the first prince.

•Wei Wang: second prince. second child of Yuan he.

• A Yan: third prince. Died at the age of 9. He was shy, timid and a year younger than Gu Yun. They were friends.

•Eunuch Zhu/ Little feet Zhu: eunuch of the imperial court.

•uncle Wang : butler of the marquis manor

•Master Liao Chi: head of the Hu Guo Temple. Gu Yun hates him lol

•Master Liao Ran: Beautiful monk who has taken the vow of silence and doesn't bath.  He took in Chang Geng, Ge Pang Xiao and Cao Niang Zhi and left the capital with them when chang Geng turned 15.

•Pope : wants to trade with Great Liang

•Ban E Duo: Luo Lan Prince. Prospering under silk road and drinks wine like a monster.

•General Du Chang De: was with Gu Yun in his early years on the battlefield

•Yao Zhen/ Yao Chong Ze: Ying Tian manor governor of Jiangnan.
(His position changes in later volumes)

•Di Song: chief of merchant ships

•Mister Uekawa: dude who attacked Gu Yun on the ships

•Huang Qiao: leader at dong ying ships but also to commander of Jiangnan Navy. Dude rebelled with Wei Wang against the crown.

•Cheng Zli lu: Wei Wang's Uncle and Huang Qiao's teacher.

•Miss Chen Qing Xu: musician + doctor + one of the 5 leaders of Lin Yuan Pavilion (A secret society) and my wife.

•Chen Zhuo: miss Chen's grandfather. The doctor who first prescribed Gu Yun's medicine.

•Sha Xie Zi: one of the bandits caught on silk road. Main plan was too attack a 1000 mile Zilujin mine.

•Wang Guo/ Imperial Uncle: uncle of Li Feng.
