-300 readers special-

i feel like i just posted the last chapter, and that's not even mentioning this story is already top 50 in #dreamnotfound! i love you all and i'm definitely going to cry later

george was loosing his shit. the only thing that was preventing him from breaking down right then and there, was the composure that dream seemed to carry with himself wherever he went. dream could feel the agitation radiating off of george.

"stay close to the fence and try to be as quiet as possible." he whispered grabbing george's wrist as he helped lead him underneath the deck. above them they could hear the heavy footsteps, infront of them the flashlights pointed into every crevice of the backyard. dream looked up to try and decipher how many cops where above them. only darkness stared back.

he raked at his eyes trying to manually adjust them to the dark and help find a place where they could hide. staying stood directly under the deck wasn't the safest bet, especially if they decided to search the area. he felt his way around, one hand still clasped to george's wrist. he'd have to be cautious of anything on the floor and on the tables that would make noise if stepped on or if accidentally dropped. he looked around in almost complete darkness and huffed at his feeling of helplessness.

when the voices above them got louder he spoke noiseless, "george." his voice was quiet enough for only them to hear. the other let out a breath. it calmed his nerves knowing george was still there and he wasn't alone. it seemed george also benefited from hearing dream's voice, even if it wasn't to its fullest extent.

when dream heard those same heavy footsteps starting down the stairs he knew he would have to act fast. he pulled george towards what he deciphered as a door, thankfully it had been cracked open. he dropped george's wrist and struggled with the thick heavy door, trying to open it while making as little noise as possible. when the door was opened he held out his hand, expecting to be met with george's wrist, surprised when he felt fingers lace into his.

his heart sped when he looked up at george from their intwined hands. it was comforting to know that george trusted him in a situation like this. he then made a quick motion to help pull himself and george into the small room. when on the other side of the door, dream slowly pushed against it with all his body weight until he felt it slide into place.

the only light in the room was filtered in through the lattice in the windows. it was eerily quiet in the dark. dream could feel george tighten his grip. he stepped away from the door and pulled george behind it. had the door been opened they wouldn't be seen. he pushed himself into the corner of the room and pulled george into his chest.

when dream's eyes adjusted to the darkness in the room he scanned the area. there was a door perpendicular from where they had been standing in the other corner of the room. if that door were to be opened they'd definitely get caught. dream let go of georges hand to wrap his arms around the man who seemed to be shaking. he was hoping he'd be able to get them out of this mess unscathed.

dream felt a buzz in his pocket and reached for his phone. sapnap had texted him letting him know him and karl made it to his house with no trouble. dream sighed and closed his eyes letting his head hit the wall. he held george closer, had it been the case he'd throw himself in front of the cops to let george get away.

"if they come in here, george, i need you to promise me you'll run away. you won't try to save me. you'll run to sapnap's house and you won't wait for me. i need to make sure you get away. we're no help if we get caught together."

when dream opened his eyes george was frowning up at him. the moonlight from the windows illuminated the brown in his eyes. george's hands were tightly gripping the fabric of his sweatshirt.

pretty.

dream noticed how close they were pressed together and he could feel their fast heartbeats. george laid his head on dream's chest. dream squeezed the older once more and rested his cheek on the top of george's head. george spoke softly into the younger's neck, sending shivers into the depths of his bones. "they won't come in here. they won't."

there was uncertainty in his voice, both himself and dream knew it was very likely they'd open that door and find the two hiding in the dark. all they could do was stand there and wait for time to tell what the fate of the two would be.

then there was a push at the door.

followed by a second.

and then a third.

they could barely hear the voices of the cops through the walls of the room. the only noise registering in dream's ears where the blaring of their hearts beating in the now deafeningly silent room. dream lifted his head from george's.

"dream, i'm not leaving you here, please, you have to come with me. i can't leave you here." his begging was practically silent.

dream didn't want to get arrested if he didn't have to, obviously. george's pleading and the struggling that was taking place behind the door made him act quick. he pulled george towards the door on the other side of the room. cautious of the obstacles no the floor. "can you run?"

george shook his head. "i'll trip over my own feet, no, sorry."

"okay, that's fine, once i open the door just jump on my back."

dream wrestled with the door, no longer caring about the noise he was making, the cops knew they were there anyways. the door finally flew open and he quickly knelt to let george on his back. george turned to look back into the dark room as the pushing on the other door became more violent.

"now's not the time george, we have to go." as the words left his mouth, dream heard the other door slam open.
