Louisa's POV

It has been a week since I had told my team about my plan of ending this marathon with my cousin Morgan. The manner of ending I have no clue, all I know is that it's either me or her. All I have in mind is this should end now. We cannot run after one another our whole lives, the collateral damage of innocents that had no chance to even defend themselves from us, supernatural. This mundane has no shield at all, they are all naked from our out of this world abilities. Maybe our ancestors had been right all along. We shouldn't be walking among this people, for we are the monsters not them.

Six months ago my team along with the others who won the 'Duel' was sent to observe Earth. It just made Morgan more furious and determined to destroy me, this people were just victims of my cousins jealousy for reasons I can never comprehend.

"Message had been sent." Jasmine spoke behind me. I look over her she's dressed for war. We manage to drop by an abandoned thrift shop. If this is the last day of our lives we better dress right.

Jared slipped a bullet proof vest over his head. "What's that for?" Fred ask.

"Dude, I may be fireproof," to prove his point he ignite his legs and arms, and extinguish it just as immediately. "But I'm not bulletproof."

"Okay, you happen to have one for me?" Fred ask hopefully.

"In fact, I have one for everybody." He handed us a stack of vest. "Found the supplies at the back. Also some ammo's." He pulled a pistol.

"Whoa!" Jack step back. "I don't think we'll need that." He gestured dismissively. "We don't need more violence, we are to end this war."

"Brother, no war has ever ended without bloodshed." Jared warned. "I'll be honest with you, I am terrified." His word brought chills on my spine. "But, I will not run away. I have to face it. I have a role in this fight, we all have."

"Okay, listen." I stir their attention towards me. "I understand." I started my big speech with 'I understand', what? "We all are scared, and just like Jack I don't want this to end in bloodshed." I look into Jared's green eyes. "I don't want to remember that once in my life I have a dead man's blood in my hand." I continued. "I wont forget about Aubrey. We have caused her death, though I know she is with Morgan and have tortured many. I still can't erase the feeling; my guilt is slowly eating me." I look towards the ground.

"Lou, I stick the knife in." Jasmine said weakly. "Not you, it was my fault not yours. Her blood's on me." Jasmine started to sob.

"No Jas," I firmly grip on her shoulder. "I had led you into that assault. It was not just on you alone." I assured her.

"Lou is right." Kennedy hug Jasmine, and I join in the embrace. "We all have been a part of it, it was a team effort," Kenny motioned. "Though, it was something that I wouldn't brag about."

"Need an invite?" I looked at the guys. "This maybe the last time we'll ever see each other."

"Nah, I'll never let that happen." Jared loaded his gun. "Aren't I your superman?" He chuckled and join in the embrace together with Jack and Fred.

We went on with fear and a lot of hope, that this will not be the last yet the beginning of a happier and less fearful life ahead of us. "Tonight, we rest." I told them. "Tomorrow we'll fight for peace and hope that this war will never have to happen ever again." I started to head back to my quarter when I remember something I should have told them long time ago.

"I'm sorry," I look at each of their faces. "I have dragged you into this," I have my hand in the air in surrender. "No more drama, just the truth. Though this was all Morgan's insecurities." I dismiss Jasmine when she try to comfort me. I know she can read my mind. I know that she knows what I'm thinking. "She had done this because she hated me and all those people that had die were just collateral damage." I spoke bitterly.

Jack was about to say something when I cut him off. "No, no more tap on the shoulder and 'It's not your fault'." I pleaded. "Let's all go get some rest. Big day tomorrow, right? It will finally end."

For weeks I had been trying to reach my parent's phone, no luck. Dad must have shutdown the cell tower. Or maybe not there's only three of us who have phones so I don't think he'll do that. The portals are shut, he shouldn't shut the cell tower. I have been pacing the room for hours. "Wasn't I the one who told everybody to sleep?" I was looking at my reflection in a dusty mirror. "Gush, you look like a smelly beggar. A beautiful smelly beggar." I smile at myself. "Now I'm talking to you," I pointed at her. At me.

"I'm going crazy," I slam to the bed. And sleep instantly, "big day ahead." I murmur to myself.

It was in the middle of the night when I heard a startling sound. I look around the tent, Kenny is out for her shift to guard the perimeter, Jasmine's peacefully asleep. I jump off the bed. I peep through the tent window, no one's outside. I went outside when a cold hand covered my mouth from behind.

"Don't," he warned still tightening the grip. I was about to elbow him. "Don't even try." He caught me off guard. 'What?' I thought to myself. "Louisa, my little girl." His voice registered in my brain. "I'm sorry I'm late."

Slowly he turned me around and pull me in a tight hug. "Dad!" I gushed and hugged him like never before. "You're here!" I started to cry, "Is this a dream?" A few months ago, I dreamt about meeting him in his office. He was entirely different, he is much more composed now.

"I am here now, baby." He cups my face with his hands and kiss my forehead. "Mom couldn't come." He told me. Holding me arms length. Why? What happened? I couldn't let why worries out. "It is just me and the members of the council." He continued but all I could think about is my mom. Is she safe? I stared into his eyes. "We captured the members of their organization." He's still ignoring me, my unspoken questions. I know he can read my mind. "We're here to capture Morgan and her allies." He explained.

"Dad?" I voice finally. I want to cry but I can't. "Is mom, okay?" My heart feels heavy. I am in the verge of tears when he pulls me in for a hug. "Where is she?"

"I left her in a safe place," Dad said finally caressing my tangled hair. "Baby, I'm sorry I haven't done the same for you." He looked me in the eyes. "Your mom was right all along, I shouldn't have send you back here on your own."

"Dad, you did what you thought was right." I try to assure him. "I know you bent the rules, because of me. You know how much I miss my friends. My life here." I continued. "This is my own doing."

He stands from the ground, and turn to the direction where the noise is now getting more louder. Horrifyingly getting closer. In the dark forest, where we usually get our supplies of food. Eight black hummer's came into view. My fellow campers might had been startled by the sound of the engines and the intense light coming from the cars. They jumped out of their tents, wearing their bullet proof vest armed with knifes and pistols.

"Good evening." Dad happily greeted my friends from the window, "I believe you are now ready." He chuckled, leaving my friends in confusion. He directed his attention towards me, "my princess, shall we meet with your cousin?"
