today was the day, briar was going back to new jersey. she was officially graduating! this afternoon jaden would be dropping briar off at the airport, then two days later, the day of her senior prom, he would be flying to new jersey to surprise briar and take her to the dance. then on the day of her graduation party, the rest of her friends from la would fly down to see her walk across the stage and come to her party. jaden was super excited to be able to surprise briar, he couldn't wait to see the look on her face.

"don't you cry joshua kenneth." briar crosses her arms, "i'll be back eventually."

"but i'm just so proud of you." 
his eyes well with tears

"oh come here you big baby." briar teases him and pulls him into a hug

"bryce." briar pulls away from josh to see a couple tears drip down from his eyes

"i'm not crying." he pouts, "i just cut some onions."

"come here." she smiles weakly and hugs the party animal

"i'm gonna miss you bri." he whispers into his hair

"i'm gonna miss you too bryce." she says pulling away, "but i'll be back to la eventually."

she looks over to the rest of her friends outside of the sway house and she pulls them all into a group hug. "i love you all so much." she says

she pulls away looking at her friends one last time before getting in the car with jaden, obviously he'd be driving her to the airport.

"this isn't goodbye." addison smiles,
"it's a see you later."

"yeah." she nods, "see you later."

she opens the passenger door and buckles herself into the car. she blows kisses and waves to her friends with tears in her eyes as jaden pulls his car onto the main road and drives straight for the airport.

"so." jaden breaks the comfortable silence,
"you excited for graduation and prom?"

"i mean of course i'm excited." she says,
"i'm still just bummed that you can't be there with me." she sighs

"i know baby." he lays his hand on her thigh,
"you know my manager won't let me leave until this song and music video is filmed." he says,
"you know i'm sorry."

"i know jae." she shakes her head, "i just wish you could see me walk across the stage in person you know." she says

"i wish i could bri." he answers, "i wish i could."

before long, jaden reluctantly pulled into lax, where just about nine months earlier he met briar for the first time. this place brought back so many memories, good memories. back when briar first came to la and they both were unbeknownst to their feelings for eachother. before things were "complicated."

"do you even have to graduate." jaden jokes as he pulls up to the gate where briars flight will take off

"i want bragging rights that i'm one of the only tiktok stars that graduated highschool." she chuckles
