"SPENCER!"

I was yelling as loud as I could but apparently that wasn't enough to get Spencer's attention. He was intensely focused on reading his fifth book of the week.

"SPENCE!!!"

His head shot up from behind the book he was reading. He looked at me and smiled. He loved when I called him Spence.

We were at a department picnic for the BAU and of course Spencer made the decision to read instead of socialize. Most of our department had left and it was just the team. I was talking with Emily and JJ when Derek had come up to me.

"y/n go get pretty boy over there and tell him to socialize with the other kids."

I rolled my eyes and laughed. Spence had never been one for small talk with others. I figured I could get him away from his book for at least a couple minutes to come by the team.

"Social interactions with others may actually help you live longer. You see, people who socialize more tend to live longer than those who are more isolated, even after accounting for your overall health."

"Spencer aren't you the one isolating yourself from the group right now?"

Yes, but according to comprehensive studies those with higher IQs are more likely to live longer than those with lower ones. So why engage in social interaction when you have an IQ of 187?"

"Alright genius, how about we leave the book for a bit and go on a walk."

"Did you know a person walks around 65,000 miles in their lifetime which is the equivalent to walking three ti-"

'Thank you. Thank you, for this new array of knowledge. I'm so excited to apply it to my daily life, now let's get a move on.

Spencer put down his book and got up to make our way over to the team before leaving for our walk.

"I don't even know how or why you had a fact about walking."

"I read it in an issue of health magazine between meetings yesterday."

"Spence, didn't we only have like two minutes between the meetings?"

Yeah. I wish we had more, I was only able to get through half the stack of magazines."

"Ok speed reader. Can you move as fast as you read? I saw a pond across the bridge over there, we can head over after we say goodbye to the team."
