chapter iii .
mother nature

luna laid soundly asleep on the motel bed as sam and dean  were eating their dinner quietly on the small table across her, they had placed her food in the fridge earlier once they noticed she wouldn't be waking up that night.

"what do we got?" dean questioned his younger brother, shoving a curly fry in his mouth, sam cleared his throat opening a tab from the computer that sat beside his food, "uh- so there was a missing persons report on the fifth of this month- jerald becker, the victim was last seen in his home on..." sam paused, skilled fingers typing quickly "thirty eighth street." he mumbled,

sams eyebrows furrowed as he continued, "there was another report following the same one- rosalie stabler, last seen at home as well. north thirty eighth street." sam said clicking link after link on the laptop, "a third report followed the two, each person missing a week apart.. victims name emanuel palacios. park drive." sam said, his heavy accent showing as he mumbled the spanish name,

dean had stopped eating his burger long ago and was now staring at the back of the computer in thought, "so it's like a pattern." dean squinted looking at sam who was staring intently at the computer screen,

"no dean. it's exactly like a pattern. and if we're right the next victim would be in two days, probably along that same area, which means the nest shouldn't be far. we have to get leads asap." sam urged his eyes staring at dean intently, dean sighed rubbing his eyes tiredly, "alright. we'll look around and interview the family tomorrow—they've got family right?" dean questioned—just making sure he wasn't too out of it, sam sighed,

"yes, dean. of course they have family." the youngest winchester deadpanned, dean gave a sarcastic smile picking up his trash and throwing it away,
"get some sleep sammy, we've got a long day ahead of us." dean mumbled, sam nodded closing his laptop before throwing out his leftovers, he climbed into the extra bed knowing it was deans turn to stay with luna,

dean scratched his back sitting on the bed opposite, watching his brothers sleeping form, back rising and falling softly, the eldest winchester closed his eyes placing his head on his hands, he ended up running both hands through his hair tugging at the roots,

dean was stressed to say the least, he didn't know why or how but the uncomfortable feeling in his head never left.

the eldest winchester let the feeling go for the time being and laid comfortably on his side watching the sleeping form of luna suck on her lips as if it were a lollipop, he smiled bringing his hand up to brush some hair from her face, feeling the young girl lean into his touch he moved closer to her form bringing her into his arms, luna sighed in content snuggling against the warmth deans body provided,

the said man smiled tightening his hold on the girl as he, as well, drifted off into sleep.

the youngest winchester opened his eyes tiredly at the sound of ringing from the clock beside him, sam tiredly lifted his arm and smacked it down harshly for the ringing to stop, he yawned and sat up glancing at the bed beside him noticing luna and his brother wrapped in each other's embrace.

sam smiled softly feeling a tug on his heart strings as his eyes glanced between their sleeping figures, he enjoyed watching luna every once in a while as she slept, sam liked how peaceful the girl became, how her thoughts disappeared, rather, being replaced by joyous delusions in her head.

the young winchester knew that luna—much like his brother—held the weight of the world on her shoulders and enjoyed little moments like these when her stress would wash away and leave her in the comfort of her dreams.
