"Woah woah, hold on a sec. You really think Shadow is going to even attempt to keep her safe," Sonic exclaimed to the young fox in disbelief.

"I might not know him very well but I have a feeling that deep down he truly wants to protect her."

"Hmm...possibly, but it's highly unlikely that Shadow would protect someone he barely knows," Rouge mumbled.

Tails sighed.

"I guess we'll just have to wait and see."

It had been a week since the Eggman incident.

Rouge kept her word and stayed beside Twilight, especially while in public. Twilight continued to dwell in Rouge's medium-sized house.

Occasionally, the two would run into Sonic and Tails, but Twilight had not seen the raven-colored hedgehog ever since they were at Tails' house.

Though every now and then she would strangely feel a bit blue about his sudden disappearance, spending quality time with her new bat-friend temporarily eased her disappointment.

Little did the lavender mobian know that a familiar 'guardian angel' lurked within the shadows.

The figure contemplated Rouge and Twilight as they strolled down the sidewalk.

"You ok hun," the bat questioned, fixing her slightly concerned gaze on the other.

"I...I'm fine...w-why do you ask," Twilight mumbled as she struggled to maintain her consciousness.

"Well..."

Rouge sighed

"Lately, the others and I have noticed you seeming to be more...exhausted."

Twilight's eyes widened.

"I-Is it that obvious?"

Rouge nodded.

"Listen, I know that you're feeling a bit home sick and all, but something's telling me that you're also being troubled by something else."

The lavender-colored mobian stopped in her tracks, her arms crossed as she glared down at the cement.

The shadow of her bangs hid her tear-glazed, violet eyes
