2. The Past comes knocking

Inaayat's POV

It was an unknown number.

"Hello?" I said lifting it a few rings later

"Kaisi ho Wikipedia?Missed me? Aajaoon waapas tumhare paas? "

"Yeah I am missing you so much Azaan, When are you coming back? " I asked him.

"I don't know, My guitar teacher loves me so much that she's behind me all the time, But don't worry I told her that my girlfriend is at home, And I love her so much" He said

"Awww I love you too.. " I said

"Who are you talking to? " My mom said coming out of no where.

Typical mom's always waiting for you to talk to someone you say I love you to.

"Maa it's... "

I sighed.

"I know I know usse sirf apni girlfriend ki hi yaad aati hai, Nani tho hamesha hi padi rahegi hai na" She said taking the phone from me

"Mera bacha kaisa hai tu? Khaana kha raha hai na? " She asked

"Arre Nani, Hum logo ne khaa bhi liya aur train mein bhi chadgaye aap mere Girlfriend ko phone do pehle" He said

I giggled as my mom placed the phone In my hand and walked away annoyed

"You know what Wikipedia, I saw Nivvu in my dreams " He said as I froze.

"He asked me to take care of you and that very soon he'll come back for you"

"Acha sunno Wikipedia, I've to go and play with Aasra,Tum Mummy se baat karlo" He said

"Inaayat, So what is your boyfriend telling you? " She asked

"Kuch nahi bhabhi, bas yeh ki woh wapas aa raha hai" I replied

"Did you meet Kabir? " She asked

"Haan, Their family might finalize the engagement date in a week"

"Are you genuinely happy with the decision? " She asked

I sighed

"I'm doing it for our family, And How did your sessions with that doctor go??" I asked diverting the topic

"Well, I don't know, I haven't seen Imran, since so many months and I think I'm losing hope, The Doctor has been saying that my days are numbered" She said

"Bhabhi, don't worry, I'm here for all of you, We'll get you treated in a better hospital and everything will be alright" I said

"Can you do me a favor Innu? " She asked "Think of this as my last wish"

"Don't talk like that bhabhi, Tell me what this is all about" I asked.

"Can you find out about which case was Adil working on before he left for
Istanbul, Just this one information please" She pleaded

"Definitely" I said

"Take care of maa too, I'll see you soon" She said and hung up.

"Maa I'm going out, Aap lunch karlo na I'll get late" I said rushing out because I knew she would bombard me with a thousand questions.

I took a cab and reached a place I definitely didn't want to be at, But I was.

I walked into Arjun's cabin.

"Inaayat such a pleasure to see you but you could have knocked " He said

"I'm here for a span of some seven minutes, so I thought I could barge in because this is your lunch time and you'd be alone" I said

"I unlike you have no time for small talk, Mr Arjun Sharma" I said sternly

"Alright then, straight to business Inaayat Mallik" He said smirking, "When are you joining us back? "

"You think this is some kind of a joke Arjun, My Dad worked for the association and was killed, My brother's been missing because he was sent on a mission of this stupid association And you guys expect me to join the same association back and work for you? How insensitive! " I stormed out

"But Didn't you enjoy working here Inaayat? You were one of the most successful persons over here, And even now you are just one step away from being the most successful agent ever" He said.

"Oh well I didn't want to be a part of all this, I was forced because I knew the secret, It wasn't that I had a much of a choice" I said

"Nivaan made a mistake, You became a part of all this to save him, Simple, You had a choice, But then you chose to save him and now you have to face consequences" He said when the door opened

"Arjun Get out" He said "Innu why the fuck are you creating a mess? "

"Innu here have some water" Aarav said giving me a water bottle

I drank some water and sat down on the nearby chair

"Bhai she wants information regarding Adil and his last case" Karan informed.

"Inaayat you see we can't do that, Until you are a part, But you've given your resignation that makes you an outsider to whom we cannot disclose any information, despite the fact that you're family" He said

I sighed

"Now I'll give you one solution for this problem, You join us back and I give you all the information regarding Adil, his case, and even assign you the same one, It's a win win situation, And if you crack this case, You'll be the most successful agents ever, even beating the score of Nivaan Mallik, Do we have a deal? " Inaayat asked.

Aarav kept rattling some change in his pocket indicating that he was tensed too

Karan looked at me in a different pleading manner to accept it.

"Here, Sign these papers which say you're joining back the job" Rishab said handing me over few papers

I signed them without even reading them and pushed the file towards him.

"You'll be assigned a team shortly and all the details and information you wanted... Karan will get it to your home, Go ahead and rest, you'll have a flight to board tomorrow morning " He said as I took my bag and began leaving
