The Crime Of Laughter

Bare your teeth,

Yeah you look so pretty

To me

Smile that wicked smile,

We know what happens next

To them

Let your laughter ring,

While the alarm bells scream

To the city

I love the way your eyes shine

in the twirling red lights

Just listen to me,

while I get lost in you

Laugh for the whole world to hear

I'll smile by your side

As the glass shatters

What a beautiful display of affection.

I hope you're happy,

I'll go through hell just to see you smile,

Because laughing for you became a rarity

What was once so kind, like music falling from your lips

Become so hollow, so blue

So I turned to red to fix that.

We'll come in guns blazing,

You'll bite your lip to keep it all in

but I tell you to let it all out

Before I do something I'll regret

for no reason other but another dose of scheduled everyday sadness

Give me some music

so I can sit in the cop car happy

And cherish the sweet memory

of your beautiful laughter tearing up my insides

You're so damn pretty

To me

I had so much fun doing this. Listened to The 1975 while writing it so I'm not surprised at the direction it went.
