Zacky's POV
"So you're telling me there's nothing you can do?" Brian said in an angry voice.
Jake shrugged his shoulders and I rubbed my temples in frustration.
"I'm really sorry guys. But we haven't heard a word from Chris in over a month. We have absolutely no leads to go on. You're gonna have to wait it out." Jake said.
"How can you ask me that? Chris could be hurt. I have no idea what's going on with her and you want me to wait it out?!" I exclaimed.
Jake looked sorry.
But he's right.
There really is nothing that he can do.
"I'll let you know if I hear anything." Jake promised.
I nodded and shook Jake's hands.
"Thanks Jake. I appreciate it." I told him.
Me and Brian walked out, making our way to the car.
We drove silently to my house.
"I can't get her off my mind Brian. I really want to think that she's okay. But with all the trouble she gets in, I'm just not sure." I said.
Brian looked over at me as we stopped at a red light.
"She's okay Zacky. Chris is a survivor. Everything she's been through, it's gonna take a lot to take her out." Brian told me.
I smiled softly.
Because Chris is strong.
So much stronger than she gives herself credit for.
"None the less. I'll feel better when I can see for myself that she's safe." I told him.
He nodded.
"I know. And we're gonna find her." Brian promised.
I looked over at him and clapped him on the shoulder.
"Thanks man. I appreciate you helping me through this." I said in honesty.
He smirked.
"You're my best friend dude. I'll always have your back." He said.
I grinned and the rest of the ride was quiet as we made our way to my house.
We pulled up the driveway and I saw someone sitting on my porch.
"Holy shit!" I yelled as I realized it was Chris.
I jumped out of the car even though it was still moving and I ran over to Chris.
I yanked her off the porch and into my arms.
"Goddamn it Chris!" I exclaimed.
I held her tightly against my chest and I couldn't help the smile that made it's way on my face.
She's safe.
And that's all that matters now.
"I'm sorry." She murmured against my chest.
I felt her arms go around me and she held me tight as well.
"Where the hell have you been?" I asked her, pulling away so I could see her face.
She looked so guilty.
She knows how worried I've been.
"It's such a long story." She grumbled.
"Well you're not going anywhere. So you'll have plenty of time to tell me." I told her firmly.
She's not getting away from me.
Not again.
I have to protect her.
At any cost.
She nodded and I led her into the house.
I saw Brian wave from the drive way.
He's gonna give us some space.
I smiled in appreciation.
This isn't a conversation Chris will want to have in front of people.
Even Brian, who she's known as long as me.
I led her inside and sat her down on the couch.
"So what happened?" I asked.
She took in a huge sigh.
And I could tell that this was gonna be a long night.
