"Again Zacky?" Gena asked, her hands on her hips as she watched me carry Chris inside.

"Please babe. Not tonight." I said softly, not wanting to wake her up.

"How many more times are we gonna do this? One? Two? A hundred?" Gena asked, the frustration clear in her voice.

"Gena, keep your voice down." I said quietly, laying her on the couch and draping a blanket over Chris.

She sighed deeply and walked down the hallway.

Great.

Another fight.

I do not have the energy for this right now.

I heard Gena's soft footsteps as she came back around the corner with another blanket in her hands.

I smiled widely as she placed it on top of the blanket already on Chris.

She looked up and saw me staring at her with a smile on my face.

"It gets cold down here." She said with a shrug.

I chuckled and opened my arms for her to walk into.

She snuggled her face into my chest and I kissed her shoulder.

"I'm sorry." I said, feeling like I'd apologized a thousand times.

And this definitely wouldn't be the last.

"I know baby. She's your friend. I would never ask you to turn your back on her." Gena said.

I hugged her even tighter.

"I love you baby." I said softly.

I couldn't see her but I knew she was smiling.

Her arms wound around my waist and she pulled away so she could look at me.

"I love you too Zacky. More than you know." She whispered.

I cocked my brow as I smirked down at her.

"Oh really?" I asked her.

"Mhmm." She murmured.

I pressed my lips to hers softly.

"What makes you say that?" I said.

"It's hard to explain." Gena said.

I looked at her with a questioning look.

"I could show you though." She grinned.

A wide grin spread across my lips and I kissed her gently.

"Sounds like a plan to me." I smiled.

She grinned and turned away from me.

Gena walked towards our room and looked back at me.

"You coming?" She asked in a low and seductive voice.

"I'm coming baby." I said with a smirk as I watched her walk away.

Gena walked to our room and I walked around the house making sure the doors and windows were locked.

I looked over at Chris again and she was shaking.

I went and sat next to her, pulling the blankets up.

At my touch she started to whimper and the sadness flowed through me once again.

"It's okay Chris." I whispered.

"Zacky..." She whimpered.

"I'm here. I'm here." I said, rubbing her head gently.

She turned into my touch and grabbed my hand, pulling it against her cheek and laying her face on it.

"Don't leave me Zacky." She groaned.

I pushed some hair out of her face and kissed her forehead.

"I'm not gonna leave you honey." I whispered.

She slowly opened her eyes and looked at me through half lidded eyes.

"You have to promise." She said slowly.

I looked her in the eyes.

"You don't want to promise, do you?" She asked.

I was caught off guard at the sudden tears that were in her eyes.

Drugs made her emotional and extremely vulnerable after she comes down from the high.

"Don't be ridiculous Chris." I said running my hand softly up her cheek that used to be soft as silk.

She whimpered again and the tears ran down her cheeks.

"I'm never gonna leave you. I promise." I told her, wiping away the tears.

She nodded and sniffled, pulling the tears back in and closing her eyes.

She laid back against my hand and after a few minutes, was sound asleep.

It was another ten minutes before I could pull my hand out from under Chris's head without waking her up.

I adjusted the blankets and walked to my room.

I opened the door and saw Gena already fast asleep.

"Fuck." I groaned as I undressed.

This isn't the first time Gena has fallen asleep waiting up on me.

And each time makes me even guiltier.

I got into bed and snuggled up to Gena.

Hopefully she won't be too mad in the morning.

I fell soundly asleep, knowing both of my girls were safe.

It was only a few hours later that I was woken up by a loud bang.

I shook my head, trying to get rid of the sleepy fog that was hanging over me.

Gena was still asleep so I carefully got out of bed to see what the noise was.

I made my way to the living room and saw the couch Chris had been sleeping on last night was now empty.

I took in a deep breath and rubbed my head.

"Chris?" I called out, even though I knew she was already gone.

I had forgotten my wallet on the kitchen counter and it was now flipped open.

I checked it and saw that all of the cash I had had in there was now gone.

"Goddamn it." I groaned.

The front door was wide open and I walked over and closed it.

I took in a big breath as I walked back upstairs.

This wasn't the first time this has happened.

And I know it won't be the last.

Damn.

The things you'll do for those you love.
