Fortunately for Tommy and Nora, Campbell and the rest of the police force backed off of Tommy for some reason as they chose not to pursue him anymore which they learned after John had managed to get word to them that everything that was safe for them to come out for hiding. It also meant that Tommy didn't need to leave like he had been planning to due to the police being on his tail, Nora couldn't put into words how relieved she was that he didn't need to leave again which she aimed to show him everyday especially now that they had taken their relationship to the next level bringing it back to the way things had been before the war with a few minor changes to who they were now. However the threat of black star still loomed over their head which was something that Nora just couldn't get out of her head especially when she had came so close to losing Tommy once already and while she had tried so hard to not think about how things might turn out, she just couldn't stop herself even now while she was laying in bed with Tommy wearing only a simple white underdress that she had put back on after they had made love once again
" Are you okay? You have a goofy looking smile on your face" Nora said as she looked from where her head was laying on his chest up to see Tommy smiling as he looked at the ceiling while playing with her hair
" I don't hear the shovels against the wall, they stop whenever I'm laying next to you... it's like you calm the chaos in my head" Tommy said before looking at her as he wondered what special powers she had over him
" the shovels... that's why you took drugs to try and get to sleep, you were having episodes like Danny and didn't tell me. I could've helped" Nora said as she hit him gently, although she couldn't get mad at him
" you have helped me, more than any little herb of yours could ever do. Will you stay and help me though, even when it gets tough?" Tommy said as he continued to play with her dark curls with his fingers
" Help you with what?" Nora said wondering what he was referring to since he seemed to since he seemed nervous about what he was asking for as she began to gently stroke his face to comfort him
" With everything, the whole fucking thing.... you know life, business, everything. I found you and you found me even in the darkness and this time I'm not letting you go" Tommy said knowing he needed her this time
" as if I'd let you without putting up a fight and we'll do what we always do we'll help each other" Nora said softly as she thought about what that might entail since she knew that his life was complicated
" and mind tell me what's kept you so quiet? What's going on in that head of yours?" Tommy said as they shuffled a little so that Nora was now laying on her stomach with her head resting on his chest
" nothing, it's just... black star day is coming up like as in its today and I'm just worried, you know what I'm like" Nora said softly as she thought about how one bullet from Kimber's side could end it all for her
