Tommy couldn't believe the fact that he was once again holding the one thing that had kept him going through the war as he looked down at the woman currently laying in his arms as she peacefully slept despite everything that she's been through the last 24 hours while Tommy had woken up a few minutes before and had been more than happy to just lie there still and watch her sleep as he realised that for the first time since he could remember that he didn't have any nightmares, that he didn't hear the screaming or someone digging into the walls reminding him of his days digging the tunnels for the trench. As he quietly thought about how complicated things were becoming between Billy Kimber and now inspector Campbell and all he wanted to do was protect this sweet precious thing in his arms so that none of this ever touched her again, soon he was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt her beginning to stir.

" hey... you stayed" Nora said as she opened her eyes and looked up to see Tommy sitting up slightly and smoking a cigarette as she leaned her chin onto his chest getting more comfortable

" of course, I stayed. Where else I would be?" Tommy said smirking at her as he thought about how nothing could tear her away from him right now as he headed over his cigarette to her

" honestly I thought you would have been long gone by the time I woke up, I thought you'd wait until I had fallen asleep before leaving" Nora said as she took a drag from the cigarette

" I wouldn't do that to you... I've tried everything to keep you away, to keep you safe, to prevent this but nothing I did worked. I always felt myself being drawn to you" Tommy said being honest

" somethings are bigger than your willl and stubbornness" Nora said softly as she passed the cigarette back to him as she thought about how sometimes they needed to give into their desires

" is that so, huh?" Tommy said laughing slightly as he realised how beautiful she was as he noticed how the sun was hitting her dark hair as she sat a little up in the small bed they were in

" yup and not even you can do anything about that... ow" Nora said as she grabbed her still very sore ribcage as she moved in the wrong way causing herself to be reminded of the pain

" what is it? Are you okay?" Tommy said as concern instantly showed on his face as reality began to hit him as he remembered the harsh reality that Nora had got hurt because of him

" I'm fine, I just forget for a second and twisted in the wrong way but I'm okay" she said trying to reassure him since it was clear that he was worried about her and the pain that she was in

" I'm sorry that this happened to you, I swear I am going to make him pay for this" Tommy said as he gently cupped her face that showed the faint signs of bruising just developing on her face

" I know you will but I need you to know this isn't your fault, it's his... there's something about that inspector that just doesn't seem right" Nora said speaking more aloud than anything else

" what do you mean?" Tommy said remembering that they used to joke about her having a superpower of being able to see into people's souls which is why she was a good judge of character

" I don't know, there's something almost wrong about how righteous he is about things. I mean people like that tend to be the most unhinged" Nora said knowing that was worrying her

" hey, you don't need to worry about that. I won't let him come anywhere you near you again" Tommy said knowing that he would rather fight everyone in the work before letting her get hurt again

" anyway what does the day hold for the great Thomas Shelby?" Nora said trying to change the subject onto slightly happier things since she could sense that he was getting angrier
