Chapter 7: School Day Part 3

Emma's P.O.V

After handing the teacher what I was going to sing I sat back down and waited. I already had the song on my Ipod in case she didn't have it. Adrian and Cole both gave me curious glances as if they were wondering what song I could have chosen that fast. “So,” Cole started “what song did you chose? You seem pretty confident in it to pick one that fast.” he asked. I could tell that Adrian was listening as well but I didn't plan on giving it to them that easily. They could wait and see what I have planned. “Well I'll just say it's a song that I feel I can relate to partially, but you'll have to wait and see.” I gave him a sly smile and went back to watching what other people around the room were doing.

Alot of people were checking on there phones or music players for a song to sing in a hurry and I noticed that a few were fervently studying lyrics as to try not to embarrass themselves. Chuckling to myself I sat back and relaxed for the remaining time. I had already memorized the lyrics for my song as it was one of my favorite songs. After the time was up the teacher called everyone to attention, waiting a moment for everyone to be quite before speaking. “Ok everyone, the time is up write down the song you chose and hand them to me and I'll pick them at random. Because of this some people might not get to sing which I do apologize for.” Her words had an amazing reaction on the class. There was the underlying worry of getting picked and the slight relief at the chance of not singing in front of there peer's, while some were annoyed. If I had to venture a guess id say they had planned to give theirs dead last hoping that it wouldn't get to them and they would be in the clear, but no luck.

One by one the students went up and wrote down what they wanted on a piece of paper putting it in the box the teacher had pulled out. I noticed that the teacher hadn't put my slip in and when I looked over at her she gave me a wink. Guess she wanted to see what I was made of after all. Chuckling a little I prepared for what I assumed was going to be my performance. And what do you know there is never anyone around to take your bet when you have a sure-fire one because guess who was first up to sing. Yeah, me, go figure. Walking up to the 'stage' I helped set the mic up and got ready. It was rather eerie having the rest of the class all waiting to see what I was going to sing, after all I was the new girl and they had to see what I was made of. I popped on the music through the speakers and began:

It's not enough
I've given up
They're wielding guns
We've been taken over
Uncetain hooves
Let instinct choose
Their every move to leave
Us cornered
I know it's true
Our sweat and blood
And armoured skirts crimson
Story book pretty soldiers
As we grow up
There's nothing left
Bow and arrow in hand
Stand up, follow orders.

How cruel have we become
To know what we have done
Tomorrow, another one, "Dear,
you're not here."
We watched them leave
Leave our homes - (Forgettable)
We embrace steel and now we know
That we have control.

Orient maid, free our souls
(Feel the drums and they hum so loud
Shooting guns from a one man crowd)
Geisha of Blades, wise and cold
(No fun and no love and not proud
What they've done to a lover's home town)

How cruel have I become
To know what I've done
Tomorrow, another one, "Dear,
you're not here."
And how we feel, no one can know - (Identical)
Our virtues close and personal
So we have control.

Sister of Blades, take my soul
(Feel the drums and they hum so loud
Shooting guns from a one man crowd)
Release my pain, one handed blow
(No fun and no love and not proud
What they've done to a lover's home town)

I'll be your leader to the other side
Now we ride, inclined, to die -
Women like us, I've come to find
Are seldom blind to life's many horrors
In strength they trust, and keep in mind
The people lost and left behind

Orient maid, free our souls
(Feel the drums and they hum so loud
Shooting guns from a one man crowd)
Geisha of Blades, wise and cold
(No fun and no love and not proud
What they've done to a lover's home town)
Sister of Blades, take my soul
(Feel the drums and they hum so loud
Shooting guns from a one man crowd)
Release my pain, one handed blow
(No fun and no love and not proud
What they've done to a lover's home town)
It's just a game, not a war
(Feel the drums and they hum so loud
Shooting guns from a one man crowd)
We cannot gain as we lose more
(No fun and no love and not proud
What they've done to a lover's home town)

The music ended and I stood there for a moment in the silence before everyone burst out in applause. Honestly I think that was more embarrassing then singing itself. I stepped off the stage and took my seat next to Cole and Adrian. “That was AMAZING! You have a beautiful voice!” Adrian Burst out. I dont know why but when he said I had to turn away as I could feel the heat rushing up my face. “Thank you.” I said meekly still trying to hide my now roaring blush. I think Adrian realized what he had just said with no hesitation because I heard him pause and turn away as well. All the meanwhile Cole was sitting in between the two of us. “Oh get a room you two.” he groaned out, groaning for real as my elbow and what sounded like Adrian's collided with his ribs. “Geez if this is first period I don't think ill make it through today in one piece.” he stated through gritted teeth

I couldn't help but laugh at this and turned around, now significantly less red. I dont know why but Adrian seems to make me act different then usual, more open, I'll have to be careful around him. After that little scene we continued to listen to the classes attempts to sing until class ended. The rest of the classes were fairly standard and nothing major happened. During lunch They showed me to their table and I took out the lunches I packed for me and Bella as everyone got seated. Bella's eyes lit up seeing it. I gave her the one I made for her and began eating mine. I talked to some of Adrians friends during lunch and found out a bit more about them. Turns out they all live fairly close to each other, including Cole, and I got to meet Cole's girfriend Eva. She is a shy girl but something about her personality just fits together with Cole perfectly. The only part of lunch that wasn't enjoyable is that I could feel some definite stares from quite a few jealous girls, although who they were jealous over I couldn't tell.

PE was a blast, to say the least. The gym teacher was one of those grizzled old men who thought that today's youth wasn't active enough and blah blah blah. Well considering my normal training routine and myself being physically fit normally, I gave him a big shock. Whether it was the push-ups, running, or climbing I beat everyone with Cole, Adrian and Ash, who was in PE with us, being close behind. I got the standard inspection from most of the boys in class before Adrian gave them a glare that sent them running. It annoyed me in a way that he felt he had to step in to protect me but at the same time it was an odd sense of comfort in him doing it that I just couldn't place. Of course this also earned me a few hateful glares from the females in the class which I sent running with a glare myself.

The rest of the day passed with relative ease and all things considered it wasn't a bad first day. I headed back to my locker and as I was getting my stuff packed up I heard the footsteps I had been waiting for all day approach and the high pitched voice I was expecting to come with them as well. “Adrian is MINE got it? Just because your all chummy with him doesn't mean that I'll hand him over!” I sighed mentally. How much I would love to bet that it was some blond bimbo, who was overly infatuated with Adrian and I could already tell I wouldn't get along with her. I shut my locker door and turn, and I must be psychic because I couldn't have been any more right if I tried. It was almost hilarious how cliché the scene was. A blonde haired, blue-eyed barbie with an anorexic thin waistline was followed by the typical barbie clone helpers.

And there was a normal part of me that wanted to just ignore her and give her the typical 'sure were just friends' routine to shut her up before promptly leaving but, that would basically be giving up. Regardless of whether or not it was the truth I couldn't just give up and roll over, it's against my morals after all. So with the kindest of smiles I said to her “ Fuck off!” and walked away as she had the most ridiculously shocked expression I've ever seen. Ash who had been standing nearby was busting a gut but followed me outside nonetheless were we met with the rest of the gang.
