From opposite sides of town, Daisy and Jack heard the same tune in their heads, and this is a musical so obviously you know whats gonna happen.
"Folks we finally got our headline 'Newsies crushed as bulls attack' Crutchies callin me dumb crips just too damn slow." They sang together
"Guys are fightin', bleedin', fallin' thanks to good ole' Captain Jack/Daisy" they sang/shouted.
"Captain Jack/Daisy just wants to close his/her eyes and GO!" they shout
"Let me go. Far away. Somewhere they won't ever find me, and tomorrow won't remind me of today. And the city's finally sleepin', and the moon looks old and grey, I get on a train thats bound for Santa Fe." They sing
"And I'm gone!" Jack sings
"And I'm done!" Daisy sings
"No more runnin' no more lying." Jack sings
"No more fat old men denying me my pay." they sing together "Just a moon so big and yellow, it turns night right into day."
"Dreams come true. Yeah they do. In Santa Fe" Jack sings
"Where does it say you gotta live and die here? Where does it say a guy cant catch a break? Why should you only take what you're given? Trapped where there ain't no future. Even at 17." they sing
"Breaking your back for someone else's sake" Daisy sings
"If the life don't seem to suit you, how about a change of scene?" Jack sings
"Far from the lousy headlines and the deadlines in between. Santa Fe, My old friend. I can't spend my whole life dreamin' Though i know thats all i seem inclined to do. I ain't gettin' any younger. And i wanna start brand new." They sing "I need space. And fresh air. Let them laugh in my face i don't care. Save my place. I'll be there."
"Just be real is all I'm askin'. Not some paintin' in my head." Jack sings.
"Cause I'm dead if I cant count on you today." Daisy sings.
"I got nothin if i ain't got Santa Fe" they belt.
