Escape

His world is dark.
Screams of pain erupt inside him, whenever he sees their faces.
The misery is locked up inside his head as he watches in silence,
Their happiness fuelling his misery and pain.

He stands there wishing for them to turn around, to believe that it's a mistake
And that God isn't this cruel.

But it isn't a mistake and they will never turn around to notice him
And so he finally draws up the strength to turn around and walk away.

When they're out of sight the pain overwhelms him as his misery leaks out.
It hurts too much and he needs an escape
Anything to heal the pain that is burning from within.

He searches and searches but nothing helps
He begins to panic, believing that the pain will never leave him
when he sees it.

The moons bright rays of light shining off the silver object
A knife laying there having descended from the heaven.
As he picks it up his panic disappears.

Following his instincts he picks it up and slashes it across skin
And as the sharp sting is felt and he sees the blood running down his arm
The pain ceases.

It is still there, in his subconscious and he knows it will be back
But everything is ok, now that he has finally found his escape.
