I stood like a shadow, in the corner. I watched as the sun rose on the day on the council. A voice from behind me made me start.

"Couldn't sleep." My glare softened into a smile.

"Legolas." He stepped out of the shadows, a smirk on his lips.

"Did I scare you?" I shook my head.

"Yes. Now, go scare other folk. I am not in the mood." He came beside me.

"What's wrong, Lona?" I looked out at the city again.

"I feel as though I will never see this place again. As though I will not return." Legolas studied me.

"From what?" I blinked. Oops.

"A journey I must make on the morrow. Where I do not know, but I know it has something to do with the Ring." Legolas smiled.

"Do not worry. You will return to your land one day, Lona." My face darkened.

"My land is closed to me. In my people's eyes, we are dead." Legolas sighed.

"It is there loss then. You four are fine young women." I smiled.

"Thank you Legolas. You are a true friend." He tilted his head.

"You know this after only one week?" I nodded.

"I am a fair judge of character, Legolas." He smiled.

"You should get ready for the council. It is starting at noon." I wandered back to my room and pulled on a dress. I sighed. Legolas was not right. I would never return home.
