When Sir Guy awakens in his secret wife, Lady Rose’s, loving arms the following morning [(2) right], the moment is bittersweet.  They will soon be parted from one another for at least two weeks--and maybe more, which might delay their formal wedding that is scheduled for two weeks hence.

Sir Guy watches Lady Rose sleep peacefully and resolves not to waken her just yet.  She needs her rest now that she is bearing his child.   A child of their love!  He can scarcely believe it.  But it is true and Sir Guy rejoices in his heart.   He does not want to leave his lady wife now.  But he must.  Now that he will have a family, it is more important than ever to Sir Guy to secure their future with a successful mission to Nottingham to kill Robin Hood and have Prince John award Sir Guy with Nottingham as his prize.

So Sir Guy slips back into his bed chamber and readies himself for his mission.  It is not long before he hears Bessie arrive and go into Lady Roseanna’s bed chamber.  She helps Lady Roseanna dress quickly and join Sir Guy in their sitting room for a small breakfast of fruit toast and omelets.  Sir Guy smiles at Lady Roseanna’s choice.  It is the first new delicacy she introduced to him when they met nearly two months ago.  They have a cordial breakfast--staving off the inevitable tears from both he and her that will accompanying Sir Guy’s leave taking.  For Sir Guy has learned that his heartfelt loving emotions for his wife Lady Roseanna are nothing to be ashamed of.  They are on the cusp of having everything they want to start their new life together as couple, as a a family.  It is just that the gods must still have their reckoning for Sir Guy’s past misdeeds--and they are not done with him yet.

As Sir Guy and Lady Roseanna glide serenely through the palace hallways to the back courtyard where an impressive assembly of soldiers await Sir Guy’s command, they are full of hope.  Though Fr. Bale has not made it back  to London in time with Sir Guy’s 3 year old son Seth for Sir Guy to see him, Sir Guy is certain that Lady Roseanna will help Seth settle in with her at the palace.  If Lady Roseanna can transform the great and fierce Sir Guy of Gisborne into becoming the noble knight that he is meant to be, then she can certainly tend to a small child. This is his reasoning any way.  As they walk into the open air of the courtyard, cheers rise up from all quarter but one.  Jasper is back--and he is not alone.

Jasper, that sycophantic courtier of Prince John’s--always angling for position--has a noble with him who is unfamiliar to Sir Guy and Lady Roseanna [(3) right].  But this unfamiliarity is not for long--unfortunately.  Prince John beckons Sir Guy and Lady Roseanna to join he and Jasper and the noble, so they walk over to them.  Lady Roseanna and her cousin Prince John kiss cheeks.

Prince John:  “Milady Rose, you look lovely this morning.”

Lady Roseanna:  “Thank you Johnny.”  She says rather familiarly in front of the unfamiliar noble.

Prince John:  “So Gisborne, are you and my elite guard ready to seek out and kill Robin Hood?”

Sir Guy:  “We are, Sire.”  Sir Guy bows.  Then he looks at the unfamiliar noble standing next to Sir Jasper, waiting to be formally introduced.

Prince  John:  “Oh!  My manners.  Jasper you know.”  Prince John [(4) right] waves his hand dismissively.  Sir Guy and Jasper nod their  heads politely at one another.  “But I don’t think you have met Sir Isaiah.”  Sir Isaiah regards Sir Guy suspiciously.
