“Guy’s Rose” Chapter 13:  Sir Guy and Lady Roseanna Getting Ready for their Betrothal Feast Tuesday Night

For  Sir Guy’s [(2) right] part as he is getting ready for the betrothal feast for he and Lady Roseanna--with him wearing yet another of Lord George Middleton’s outfits of fine burgundy colored velvet--he feels humbled by his transformation from possible dungeon captive to esteemed noble, to potential member of the royal family through his engagement to the fair Lady Roseanna.  He finds that he likes her more and more.  If circumstances were different--and he wasn’t pining away for Lady Marian still--Sir Guy might have seriously entertained courting Lady Roseanna.  But, as things stand, he is her willing accomplice in a machination of palace intrigue so devious that even he had never aspired to such heights.  Sir Guy stands proudly looking at himself in the mirror, wondering  where his and Lady Roseanna’s alliance might lead them.

And Lady Roseanna?  As she readies herself for the betrothal feast--in one of her finest French gowns that her Aunt Queen  Eleanor gave her--she wonders about this strange turn of events.   Lady Roseanna realizes that she has become a pretend fiancé to a man--Sir Guy of Gisborne--whom she would have liked as a real suitor.  But barely two days acquaintance--however familiar and comfortable their interactions have been--is not sufficient time to take the full measure of a man.  Unless of course, that man is Sir Guy of Gisborne.

Lady Roseanna [(3a) right] sighs as Bessie helps her into her gown of pale pink imported Italian silk [(3b)] with gossamer sheer ruffles and capped sleeving with a becoming sweetheart neckline.  The pale pink shade complements her skin tone very nicely.  And her glimmering burnished auburn hair is pulled up on the sides with jeweled combs and her hair flows over one of her shoulders in soft curls.

Lady Roseanna:  “Hhhhhh!”   Her face betrays a small pleased smile as she looks at herself in the mirror.

Bessie:  “Oh milady, you are so beautiful! You will take Sir Guy’s breath away.”  She says encouragingly.

Lady Roseanna:  “Thank you Bessie.”  Lady Roseanna smiles, pleased with how she looks.  “And have you spoken to Sir Guy?  Is he readying himself also?”  She asks her maid inquisitively.

Bessie:  “Yes, milady.”  She nods her head.  “He is in the sitting room and said to tell you that when you are ready, he will escort you to the feast.”

Lady Roseanna:  “Well then, I best not keep him waiting.”  Lady Roseanna twirls herself around once  as Bessie claps her hands approvingly, and then she walks to her bed chamber door

As Lady Roseanna opens her bedchamber door, she spies Sir Guy standing imperiously tall next to the fireplace with one hand on the fireplace mantel and one on his hip.  Her eyes widen in appreciation at the sight of him in her brother’s burgundy ensemble with Sir Guy’s manly muscular throat left exposed.  Lady Roseanna thinks that Sir Guy looks even more handsome than earlier--even when she saw him naked.  She blushes thinking of that image in her mind.

Sir Guy:  Upon hearing Lady Roseanna’s bed chamber door open Sir Guy slowly turns and looks at her in stunned awe.  Regaining his senses, he bows respectfully to her.  “Milady Rose.  My apologies for my silence.  But your beauty takes my breath away.”  He moves the hand on his hip to his heart as he continues to grip the mantel for support.  Sir Guy is also nervous, but Lady Rose can’t tell that.
