Why You Are

You just stand there,

Walking in your own mind,

Trying to forget their stares,

As they point out the flaws they find,

You don't change for them,

You show them that you're proud,

But they just can't accept that,

You're different, you stand out in the crowd,

At home you try to forget,

Start new and fresh,

But each of those words,

Becomes a slit to your flesh,

You promise to stop,

That'll it'll all be forgotten,

But it continues on and on,

You glare at every one of them,

Tired of the hiding,

Tired of being secret,

You show them what happens when they bully,

And yet you're still the pet,

People hope you die,

As it kills you inside,

You're scattered in every direction,

Like and ocean's stormy tide,

It breaks you into pieces,

To never be invited,

With open arms an grace,

You're always being hated,

Criticized and judged,

But an internally raging soul,

It's turning you from who you are,

Losing all control,

And then the coughs come,

And out does the blood,

Over and over and over,

Till your lungs finally flood,

People only watch you,

Laughing as you die,

The last words you say to them,

"At least I never cried."
