Chapter 1
I never thought it would happen to me. The whole 'love at first sight' thing, but I honestly fell in love the moment I laid eyes on him in chemistry class. So cliché, I know. But I honestly thought I had no chance with him. He's tall, blonde with blue eyes, and popular. And I'm so not popular by any means. I'm short, with brown hair and hazel green eyes. I only have one friend, Alex.
He has always been there for me. Through the break-ups, to my mother's death when I was seven. In a way he is like a brother to me. But when I look at him, and he smiles at me, I get the worst butterflies in the world. I can't like him. Pshh, I Autumn, like Alex? Ha. No way.
I loved Jared since the moment I laid eyes on him, or so I thought.
On my 17th birthday, I came downstairs to a stack of pancakes on the table, with one single candle in it. I see my dad, and my older twin siblings; Ava and Joel, with stupid party hats on their heads. They even put one on my dog Pepper.
"Happy Birthday Pumpkin." my dad says, kissing my head.
"Yeah, Happy Birthday Pumpkin" Joel says with a smirk.
"Stop it Joel" Ava says, then slaps Joel aside the head.
"Ow! Sorry Autumn."
Joel is such a dork sometimes, but I guess you get used to it. I always thought he would never have a girlfriend. But he clearly proved me wrong when he brought Ashley home to meet the family. I guess Ashley actually likes the dork.
"Thanks guys, but I have to get to school. Alex says he has a birthday surprise waiting for me" I said as I grabbed my keys and headed out the door.
