The Daughter of the Gods Book 2: More Hardships

Chapter 16: Thor

I watch as my brother and daughter fade into nothing before I turn my attention to Hela.

"Shall we." I ask Valkyrie.

"After you." She tells me smiling. Before I run, I yell at the undead soldiers that Atlantia had left for me and Valkyrie to give orders to.

"Attack Hela." I yell at them before summoning lightning and running toward Hela. I jump into the air while Hela throws daggers at me. I destroy the daggers and use my swords to try to get a hit on her. She blocks each of my attempts. Hela then grabs my arms and tosses me over her shoulders. I land hard on my stomach further away from her. I turn around and I watch as some her undead soldiers try to stop her but then some of them begun to stumble like they are fighting who is controlling them.

"What's happening to them?" I ask Valkyrie who just got thrown by Hela.

"I think Atlantia is losing control over them." She responds," I mean she may be Hela's daughter but she is also the daughter of many other gods so her powers may not be as strong or she is stronger but she is overusing them. I am leaning toward the latter one." I nod in response and then summon lightning and rush toward Hela to attack her again. Hela creates daggers and throws them at me. My shield of lightning that is surrounding my body easily destroys them. I throw my own punches and she blocks them but then I am able to land a kick which sends her flying onto her back. I run and jump into the air with my sword intending to stab her. At the last moment she rolls away and I stab my sword into the bridge. Hela flips into the air before sending daggers at me. I dodge the first one but deflect the second one. However, the force from the second dagger throws me to the ground. I recover quickly and block a power ball that she sent toward me. I block her punch before throwing Hela over my head. She uses it to her advantage as she has the upper hand in the fight with Valkyrie who happened to behind me. I turn toward the ship and see the undead soldiers had begun to run toward the ship. I realize that Atlantia loss her hold on them which allowed Hela to regain control of them.

"Go, go now." I yell to Heimdall who was standing outside the entrance to the ship. He had a look of concern on his face before walking inside and the ship begins to rise into the air. I turn toward Hela but Hela throws a harpoon version of her powers into my shoulder and I collapse to the ground in pain. I watch as she summons a giant black spike from the ground that impales the ship and prevents  it from moving. I see all the undead soldiers running up the spike to reach the ship. The first soldiers enter the ship but few seconds later. I see them falling toward the ground and not moving anymore. Each soldier thats stepped onto the ship died instantly. Finally I see an Asgaridan jump out of the ship holding those weird weapons the Midgardians use. I watch as he destroys every undead soldier before yelling at Hela.

"Hela," He shouts before walking toward her with his Midgardian weapons in his hands. I see Hela's face turn into a face of disappointments. Hela raises her hand and a blade gets fired straight through the Asgardian's heart. He collapses and I knew he had been killed. Then I get a message in my head.

"Father, we did it. Surtur will rise soon." I hear in my head. I smile and pull the blade that was in my shoulder out before getting to my feet.

"Hela, enough." I yell to her. Hela turns and faces me.

"You want Asgard?" I continue," It's yours."

"Whatever game your playing, it won't work," Hela responds,"You can't defeat me."

"No," I admit,"but he can." Just at that moment. Surtur explodes through the palace growing to a height that would have been the same as the palace. I smile. The plan worked.

Point of View Change: Atlantia

My last sight was of Thor with a look of concern and determination on his face. I had planned to vapor travel right to the skull of Surtur but that didn't happen. I ended up vapor traveling to the entrance to the Odin's vault. We run through the entrance and look for the skull of Surtur. I spot and I grab it. Just as I was about to run to find the enternal flame, I felt my control on the undead soldiers waver. I began to fight Hela for control.

"Hela is trying to regain control of her undead soldiers. Guide me to the eternal flame." I grit out trying to stay focus on making sure Hela doesn't regain control of her army. I began to fight mentally with her. As I was fighting with her, I could feel Loki gently pulling me so I began to walk. He abruptly stops but I ignore him as I continue battle Hela. I tried everything I could but I began to feel very weakened and realized I have been overusing my powers. In the moment of distraction, Hela was able to destroy me in the mind battle for control over her army. I awaken and find my bearing in the world of reality. I see that we had stopped in front of an empty pedestal.
I frown," Why did we stop here?"

"You were shaking violently and I got worried so I stopped," Loki says concerned. I could tell that wasn't the full truth but I wasn't going to address it now. With Loki following we ran down the hall and at the end, was the eternal flame. I stopped in front of it and Loki placed it into the flame.

"With the eternal flame, you are reborn." He states. I close my eyes as he is doing this.

"Father, we did it. Surtur will rise soon." I mind messaged Thor. I opened my eyes to see Surtur growing. I grab my father's hand and vapor travel out of the vault.
