Kylee's thumb hovered over the green 'CALL' button on her screen, her throat seeming to be suddenly tight. Not a couple weeks ago, she got so upset about Dennis and his date that she cried.
Dennis was the first guy she's ever been truly interested in, even over text. Kylee's mother was always watching her, keeping tabs on her life outside of home and school, that Kylee never felt it was safe enough to bring a love interest into her life. Her mother was a hard, cruel woman. She would chase anyone Kylee liked away.
But she needed someone to talk to that wasn't Leigh, someone who hasn't heard about her mother already, and someone who couldn't see her cry as she ranted.
Her thumb touched the button.
