Chapte 6 -

“We're ready and waiting on you and the girl to get here. Tell me what happened?” Doc mind linked Grey.

“I...I looked passed her mind link boundary. She could not take it; started bleeding from her nose and ears within a matter of seconds, before going unconscious. I do not know what went wrong. Most minds can take a five or so minutes before that happens. ” Grey stammered guiltily. Most alphas have the special ability. It was for the protection of the pack, only normally reserved only for interrogating uncooperative rogues. The mind link boundary was the psyche’s way of protecting itself and the person who shares a mind link with someone else. Once breached there was a chance that the boundary will not be able to heal itself and that would mean that whatever memories were uncovered, could potentially become that psyche’s current reality. It was the very last resort to extract truthful knowledge. It was excruciatingly painful to have happen.  “Be there in less than a minute, she’s starting to wake up.,” he added.

“Put her on the bed and leave so we can examine her; I will come out soon if I can.” Doc ordered.

Grey was getting ready to argue, but looked at Doc’s expression as he began his physical assessment on Paige made him start to leave even though he did not want to. He watched as the nurse starting to ask Paige questions while taking her vitals.

‘Hi honey, my name is Christy and I’m your nurse.  I just need to get your vitals and ask you a few questions while  Doc runs an EKG and attaches the electrodes for the ECG, ok?’ the nurse stated, but did not wait for a reply.  “What’s your name, date of birth and do you know where you are?”

“Paige Russo, 12/16/1993 and no, I do not know where I am. I have never been in this room before, I don’t think, it doesn’t look familiar to me.” Paige whispered

“Ok, now look at my the tip of my noses and just keep looking at it, you will see a bright light go across each of your eyes…smile for me, Paige smiles weakly. Do you remember what happened to you sweetie?' then states out loud , “PERRLA NOTED, zero facial droop, then moves the light to Paige’s ears, Right ear drum ruptured, No rupture in left.” The nurse continues, “Squeeze my hands as hard as you can. Hand grasps equal/strong bilat.”

“I was at the lake with friends, and the beta said they caught rogues that told them my old pack was coming for me and the alpha, his eyes turned red and then there was just the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my head. Like a vice grip but with white-hot stabbing pain. I woke up being carried in here.”

Grey walked into the hallway and down to the living room.

“Are you still in pain?” the nurse questioned

“No, but the light is hurting my eyes and there’s also this sort of flashing pixilation all over except the center of my vision.” Paige reported while closing her eyes again, unable to take the light anymore.

"Do you have a history of headaches, Paige?" then turns and asks Doc, "Anything yet from the EKG or EEG?" asked nurse.

"Everything is unremarkable so far." Doc replies, then addresses Paige, " I don't like the sound of you having flashers, it's a sign of cluster migraines, which could signal that the barrier is still torn, however, your brain does not appear at this point to have  sustained any permanent damage from Alpha's scan, but I'm cautious with saying because it doesn't mean your brain hasn't. You'll need a MRI with DTI to make a definitive determination of the health of your mind link barrier, but that will need to be scheduled as an outpatient procedure in 7 days since it's too early to tell about permanent damage. Right now, you appear stable enough to be released with strict orders to rest and not get stressed. You'll probably have some vertigo from the right ear rupture but basically there is nothing we can do for that since the membrane will heal itself. I'll give you a script a med that will help you with the dizziness. Do you have any questions, Paige?"
