Chapter 3 – Grey’s POV

It was a typical Friday morning around the pack house. I could hear the people downstairs getting everything ready for the BBQ tonight. I really hate not having Ash BBQ nights; especially since Ash had bailed on me for that hot little blonde I had picked up last week, leaving me to fulfill “Alpha duty.” It’s not that I don’t love my pack because I do. They are my life. Just tonight means having to endure busy-body married wolves lecturing me about how Ash and I should be out looking for our mates, instead of man-whoring around like we all ways do. On top of that, I will also be forced to field somebody’s desperate attempts to offering up their niece, daughter, granddaughter or sister to me on a silver platter, in hopes that she’s my mate. They never are; so why should I expect tonight to be any different? It’s painfully embarrassing to me as it was to the girls because in truth, they were average looking women, with nothing much interesting going for them. “Ugh!"

Yes, I’m doomed to a boring tonight, while Ash is fucking that blonde from last week, “What’s her name again? Barbie, Brenda, Bonnie…. Oh hell, who cares...I certainly don’t.” All girls are named ‘Bella’ to us. That way, there’s no risk calling a girl by the wrong name and pissing her off before getting her into bed.” It’s a private joke between me and Ash that we share a lot of the women we date, unbeknownst to them of course, because usually they are so stupid, they can’t tell the difference between us. It’s our way of keeping up the friendly competition between us on who can get the hottest girl to sleep with us first. If she’s good, then we share her. Besides, it’s not like they are our mates. I really don’t think we’d actually share mates, but I wouldn’t put it past us; we share everything else.

Stepping out of the shower, I hear a , ‘Hey Grey’, Logan mind-linked. ‘Hi ya baby sis, you ok?’ I asked her. ‘Yes, I’m fine like always, just wanna give you a heads up that I’m with a very young girl, I’d say not more than 16 years old, possible 17. She seems sort of timid and shy but scared too; Rather sad story there, I think. Told me that she moved here a few days ago by herself and just rented an apartment from the Smith’s.’

‘Well, just keep an eye on her and I’ll meet her when I come pick you up from school, ok sweetie?’ I told her.

‘I am at the store. Gretchen called out this morning, so I have to cover her today instead of going to school. The girl just walked in asking for a complete makeover before starting school Monday; which gets me back to why I’m talking to you in the first place. I like her Grey, she’s sweet; I can tell she doesn’t have a lot of money though, dressed old ragged clothes that are almost falling off her; so I am going to use pack funds to buy her some clothes. She doesn’t smell like true rouge, but she does smell like she has alpha in her. The triplets are on their way so I’m not alone with her, just in case, but they’ll feel her out too’ she stated.

‘Ok, but what’s her name so I can make some discreet inquires and Logan…everyone keeps their mind links open to me. If something isn’t right about her and this is a trap, then I want to know immediately. Bring her to the BBQ with you so I can meet her tonight. If she wants to stay, I don’t have a problem with it, but she’ll have to join the pack like everyone else. ‘I said. My little sister is as sharp as a tack and has excellent judge of character. From my experience, young female wolves never turn out to be true rouges; this girl is probably a runaway, and if she was then her old pack might be looking for her, depending on her status. The sudden appearance of this girl could mean trouble.

‘Her name is Paige Russo. She’s about 5’8, blue-green eyes that rimmed pure silver and long tawny blonde hair with light brown highlights; has a pretty face. The triplets are walking in, so I’ve got to go. I’ll let you know what I find, love you big brother.’ Logan said as I heard her squealing giggle, “family hug” and knew she just got tackled by the triplets. I’d seen it a thousand times.
