Just like old times (Bertholdt X Reader)

Chapter 7

I look at the jacket that just arrived. It was neatly folded and showed the badge on the pocket.

"I can't believe you're leaving already," Marco said sitting on the chair by the table

"It was offered and I knew what I wanted," I said taking off the Training jacket that I wore for three years (Yes it was washed)

"What actually happened?" He asked

"I was told that If Eren won his trial, I would be able to join under the premises I was keeping him company," I explained

"So that's it?" He asked

"Yup, My stuff is packed and the carriage will arrive soon," I said, "Don't worry, I'll visit the capital to see you," 

He looked down, "Right,"

"What's up?" I asked

"Honestly, I'll miss you," He said, "I was enjoying our time together,"

"Me too, but It had to happen with us choosing different Regiments," I said picking up my new jacket

I put it on and neatly place my badge on it.

Knock Knock Knock

I open the door to reveal Eren.

"It's here," He said

"I'll be a minute," I responded

He nods and walks off. I grab my older Jacket, it was the only thing left after everything else was taken earlier.

Marco stands and we both exit the room.

"Well, I'm off freckles, See you in the future?" I asked

He smiles, "Of course," 

With that we go separate ways, he goes to find Jean who was in the boys' dorm while I exit altogether and go to the carriage. 

"Is that you going?" I heard Bertholdt's voice

"Yeah," I responded turning to look at him

"I'll miss you," He said pulling me into a hug

"I'll miss you too," I hugged back, Once we let go I turn to leave, "Good luck in the MP," 

I head to the carriage, Once in the door, I turn and give him a wave then enter.

Time Skip (To after graduation)

I stood on the wall, I no longer needed to be next to Eren which was great as he was quite annoying, constantly going on about killing all the Titans.

"(Y/N)?" I turn and see Marco

"Marco? What are you doing here?" I asked walking over

He points to the pocket badge on his jacket, The wings of freedom.

"Why? I thought you wanted to join the MP," I asked

"I felt like the Scouts were a better cause," He smiled

"Oh my Sina," I walk to the edge of the wall, "I will never understand you,"

"When I stayed to join the Scouts, Jean tried to drag me away, I told him I wasn't going for the MP anymore and he decided to stay too," Marco laughed

"Wow, I'm amazed at how many joined," I said

"By the way, Is it true that you asked not to be in the top ten?" He asked

"Yeah, I knew I wanted to join the Scouts from the start so I asked not to waste space from who wanted to it," I explained

"Do you know what place you would have gotten?" He asked

"Yeah, I was told by Commander Smith, First," I responded

He went silent for a moment, "Well, everyone's talking to Eren, you coming?"

"Nah, I'm gonna stay here," I said sitting down

"Alright, I'll catch you later," He said walking off

I sit in silence watching the people doing their business in the town. 

I wonder how Bertholdt is in the MP..?

I take my locket from under my hoodie and open it, Inside was a small picture of Me and Bertholdt as kids, This is what made me believe everything he talked about. I was hanging upside down from a tree while he stood next to me, our heads were aligned and we both had big smiles. I smile, You could tell the hoodie I was wearing wasn't mine, The hood was way too big and you could see the sleeves go way over my hands.

Im sure I still have that hoodie...

On the other side was another picture. It was one that I added of me and Bertholdt, We were sitting by the side of the lake at night, I was in his jumper while he was wearing a shirt. He was using me as an Armrest.

I hear someone sit next to me, "Hey,"

I didn't hear them walk over, I look at them, "Bertholdt? I thought you were joining the MP," I looked at the badge on his jacket, Wings of Freedom

"Annie joined while Reiner and I decided to join the Scouts," He explained

I closed the small locket and place it back into my hoodie, "Why?"

"I stayed for my own reasons while Reiner joined me," He placed his hand on my knee

"I'm still shocked you joined," I said

He reaches over and picks up my locket from the bit around my neck, He opens it, "I joined to get this back,"

I look at the picture then hug him.

He closes the locket, drops it then hugs back, "I wanted to ask something,"

We both let go and I look at him.

He sweats slightly, "I- Well I-" He sighed, "I wanted to know if you maybe... wanted to go for dinner with me?" He sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck

"Bertholdt, I'd love to," I smiled
