*In the TARDIS*

A man in maroon colored trainers dashed madly a long a control console. This man is the Doctor.

"So, Rose Tyler, where do you want to go?" He asks, bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet, itching for a new adventure.

"You still owe me that trip to meet Elvis, Doctor." Rose responded from her place on the jump seat.

"Right you are, New York, 1953, let's try this again." He once again begins to dash madly around the console. He's pushing buttons an pulling levers in what would seem like no particular order, but it makes sense to the Time Lord. (Oh who are we kidding the Doctor has no idea what he's doing.) He pulls one final lever and TARDIS starts to madly shake.

As the shaking finally stops the Doctor grabs his long coat off of one of the coral struts and runs for the door. Rose shakes her head at antics and follows him. The doors open with their familiar creak and the dynamic duo exit the time ship.

They promptly walk into London town not to far from Rose's own time.

"So, I'm guessin' we're not meetin' Elvis today."

The Doctor sniffs and cocks his head ever so slightly to the left. "Well, I guess not. I promise, one day, Rose Tyler, the TARDIS will land where I want her to!" He declares.

"I think the universe would implode or somethin' if that were to happen." Rose says smiling towards the Time Lord.

"Well," the Doctor starts, rubbing the back of his neck, "you may be right on that front." He finishes smiling back at his companion.

The Doctor and Rose set off through London to begin their newest adventure.

*Back at the McCoy house*

Sophie was in her bedroom playing wizards and witches. She's flicking her 'magic wand' about

She hears a loud explosion resonate from downstairs. She also hears the sound of heavy boots March across the floor. Her mum screams. Sophie's father comes running into the room. He kneels in front of his daughter, a look of fear painted across his face.

"Dearest, go and hide in your closet. Whatever you hear, whatever happens don't come out. Okay?"

"Daddy what's going on? What was that noise, Why's Mummy screaming?" Sophie is scared, she's never seen her Dad like this.

"Just go!" Dad says very sternly. Just as Sophie clambers her way into the closet and hides amongst the toys that litter the floor, the door to the room is busted down.

"YOU WILL BE UPGRADED!" bellows the metallic man as he grabs on to her father's arm. He begins to drag him away. Sophie stifles her sobs so as not to alert the metal men to her position.

*With the Doctor and Rose*

The Doctor and Rose are walking when he spots a newspaper. The Time Lord looks at the date on the front page. "Look, Rose," he says turning the newspaper so she can see the date, "it's 1990. That's brilliant. Nelson Mandela is released from prison, the Hubble telescope is launched into space, the Berlin Wall is torn down, and East and West Germany begin to mend their tenuous relationship."

"That's all well and good, Doctor, but why are we here? We're in London so I'm fairly certain we won't be helpin' East and West Germany sort out their issues."

"Well, no, not with that attitude we won't." The Time Lord says pirouetting on the spot so he can point a finger at Rose. Suddenly they hear an explosion down the street. The duo glance at each other and take off at a run.

The time-travellers arrive at a house. It's a quaint family home with a nice garden and through the windows you can see many house plants. Also the door has been destroyed by whatever beast had entered the house.

The Doctor and Rose cautiously approach the door. They slowly enter the home, looking around and seeing the damage done to the interior. The rooms look practically destroyed.

"Doctor, what coulda' done all this damage?"

"Shhhhhh," The Doctor says holding a finger to his lips, he begins spinning around rather slowly. He looks as though he is listening to something intently, although Rose could hear nothing. Rather abruptly he grabs her hand and barrels up the stairs.

    "Doctor, watcha' doin'?"

"There's a child crying, Rose, who is trying to be silent. Do you know what that means?" The Doctor asks as they dash for the end of the hall.

"They're scared?" She hazards. Rose doesn't have a lot of experience with kids, but she's guessing that's what's going on.

The duo arrive at a door at the end of the hall. The Doctor pushes it open, and it gives a loud creak. Behind the door a Cyberman turns it's cold eyes to look at the time-travellers.

"Run," the Doctor says shoving Rose back the way they came. They run about halfway down the hallway when suddenly the Doctor turns toward the Cyberman. He reaches a hand into his front jacket pocket and pulls out his sonic screwdriver. "If I could just get the right frequency," he says holding the device to his ear.

"Whatever you're gonna do, Doctor, do it quick."

"A-HA," the Time Lord shouts triumphantly as he points his glow stick of destiny at the Cyberman. The tin man freezes mid-step and collapses to the ground in front of them. "Short-circuit the wires. It'll only work once, mind. He'll be waking up soon, we need to hurry."

He turns to look for her, expecting her to be at the end of hallway. She's standing not three inches behind the alien.

"I thought I told you to run," He says looking increduously before dashing into the room. "The child's in here somewhere. We need to find her before the Cyberman wakes up."

As Rose and the Doctor search the room, the closet door creaks open. The Doctor's head snaps up from where he is crouching looking under the bed.

"Hello," he proclaims as he straightens up and runs toward the closet. The girl scooches back into the closet and cowers in the corner. "Hey, hey, it's okay I'm not gonna hurt you," the Time Lord says crouching in front of the child, "I'm the Doctor, that's my friend Rose." Rose is standing a few feet back so as not to overwhelm the girl. "What's your name?" The Doctor finishes flashing a smile.

"I'm Sophie," she begins, slowly uncurling herself, "are you gonna save my dad?"

"I'm gonna do my best, Sophie."

The Doctor reaches his hand out the the child, who in turn grasps it. It seems to her that this man is exuding an aura of compassion and honesty, and she can't help but trust him.
